What did you want to do when you grew up

Alice Sharma: This takes me back to the year when life gave me a chance to bounce back and relive. I am one of the uttrakhand flood survivors, the tragedy of 2013 that ruined countless lives.

I was stuck in the uttrakhand floods, I have witnessed life on the ending edge, having seen countless dead bodies and having seen countless families getting ruined in a matter of hours moreover, having seen people starving to death, I took an oath that if I’m fortunate enough to survive I would go back and make all the efforts to work for the unprivileged.

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Alice Sharma: After my 12th boards, I was diagnosed with severe typhoid, I was bed ridden for a quarter of year, due to which I had to drop one year, that was when I discovered the passion I had for writing. I started writing blogs at first, which in the due course of time, transformed into books.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Alice Sharma: In 2017 I wrote my debut novel that was a non frictional piece, I got recognition at various platforms for the book.

But it was later in 2018 when I wrote my second book titled Longer Than Forever that I first encountered all the recognition for the book, I got felicitated w/ various awards for the book. That was the first time I first encountered the actual recognition for being a writer.

Where do you get ideas for your books?

Alice Sharma: I’d be honest if I say, my idea for my next book is always in my surroundings and the people I interact with. Everything and everyone around me inspires me w/ a new idea for the book.

How many books have you written?

Alice Sharma: I have authored 7 books till date.

What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

Alice Sharma:My work schedule is hectic on the days I’m writing. I work for a stretch of 10-12 hours in one go. Now for someone who’s a writer, this stretch of time would sound relatable, that’s how writers work and that’s what our schedule looks like.

When did you write your first book?

Alice Sharma: I wrote my first book in 2017.

How do books get published?

Alice Sharma: Books are generally published under two categories – traditional and self publishing. The traditional publishing involves a publisher and a whole agency backing up your dream manuscript, whereas in self publishing you are the sole sailor of your ship.

What advice would you give a new writer?

Alice Sharma:The writers should follow their gut feeling, that’s exactly what I follow. Your gut never lies. It’s the best thing to rely on.

A writer should always be true to their own instinct. If you think a character would work? It would work. If you think a character won’t work? Change it. That’s how it goes. Let your gut feeling guide you.

Where can readers purchase your books?

Alice Sharma: All my books are available on Amazon.
