When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Alisha Begum: I never actually aspired to become a writer; it’s something that unfolded quite unexpectedly. The journey into writing began spontaneously and took me by surprise. Circumstances aligned in a way that led me to put pen to paper, and before I knew it, I was immersed in the world of storytelling.
This unplanned path has been both surprising and fulfilling, allowing me to explore the realm of creativity in ways I hadn’t envisioned before.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Alisha Begum: I began to consider myself a writer when I realized that writing had become an integral part of my daily life and identity. It wasn’t solely about the act of putting words on paper, it was a way of processing thoughts, expressing emotions, and sharing insights.
As I consistently dedicated time to writing, whether in journals, essays, or short stories, it became clear that it wasn’t just a hobby but a fundamental aspect of how I engaged with the world. Embracing the title of “writer” meant acknowledging that my thoughts and words held value. This recognition marked the moment when I truly considered myself a writer
How many books have you written?
Alisha Begum: I have authored a variety of works, including my debut novel, ‘His Possessive Love’ which received critical acclaim. In addition to my romantic fiction series, I have meticulously crafted a collection of spiritually enriching journals, including titles such as “Love Yourself a little More,” “Healing Soul”, “Be the unstoppable”, “Lets Learn Gratitude” and “Ahavah”. And currently working on my romantic fiction, “Love 24hrs” and “The Breathing Earth”.
What is your work schedule like when you ‘re writing?
Alisha Begum: I tend to write either during the late hours of the night or in the early morning. I find that these moments offer the ideal writing conditions. The stillness of these hours allows the world to settle, resulting in minimal distractions that contribute to a focused writing experience.
How long does it take you to write a book?
Alisha Begum: The time it takes to write a book can vary widely depending on various factors including the genre, length of the book, writing speed, and complexity of a story. For example, a journal might take a few months to a year, whereas a novel could take a year or more.
When did you write your first book?
Alisha Begum: I penned my very first book a few years ago around 2018. It was a thrilling step into the world of storytelling and creativity. Since then, I’ve been continuously honing my craft and exploring various genres to bring captivating stories to life.
How do you handle feedback and reviews, whether positive and critical?
Alisha Begum: Getting feedback is like discovering hidden treasure. Positive reviews are like a little ray of sunshine. It immediately uplifts my spirit and motivates me to do better. Well, constructive criticism can be a bit tough to hear but it’s a secret recipe of becoming a better writer. But what really excites me is that knowing my work sparks reactions. And that’s pretty awesome.
What is the most difficult part about writing for you?
Alisha Begum: Many writers would agree that one of the most difficult parts about writing is often the act of getting started. Overcoming the initial inertia and putting the first words on the page can be challenging.
Often referred to as “writer’s block,” where ideas might not flow as easily as desired. Additionally, staying committed to your writing, even when inspiration wanes, can be a significant challenge.
What advice would you give a new writer?
Alisha Begum: My advice would be to write consistently, read widely, and embrace the editing process. Don’t be afraid to seek feedback, stay open to learning, and remember that writing is a journey of self-discovery.
