Can you share the story behind the founding of Ozone and what inspired you to enter the architectural hardware industry?

Alok Aggarwal: The idea behind Ozone originated from a clear gap we observed in the Indian market during the late 1990s. There was growing demand for high-quality architectural hardware, but most options available were either imported and expensive or lacked consistency in quality.

Realising the immense opportunity lying ahead and the determination to bridge the gap led the inception of Ozone. 

With a strong foundation in manufacturing, I ventured in the journey of introducing a brand that could offer well-engineered, reliable products—that conformed to international standards, yet tailored to the unique needs of Indian consumers. It was this vision that led to the birth of Ozone.

Our goal from day one was to build a brand rooted in quality, innovation, and trust. What began with a limited range of offerings has today evolved into a comprehensive portfolio that serves a wide spectrum of sectors—from residential and commercial spaces to hospitality, healthcare, and even airports.

What are the key factors that have contributed to Ozone’s success in the competitive market of architectural hardware?

Alok Aggarwal: Thereare a host of factors whichhas helped Ozone grow and develop a niche in the market over the years.

1. Wide range of products: We offer solutions for every space and every requirement, entailing home, hotel, airport, office or hospital.
2. Strong quality control: At Ozone, we ensure every product undergoes internal quality checks before it reaches the customers.
3. PAN India presence: With a robust distribution network, we are able to serve customers across the country, including Tier II and Tier III cities, ensuring timely availability and support wherever our products are needed.
4. Constant innovation: We continuously evolve our product portfolio to align with emerging needs, technological advancements, and design trends, making sure the offerings remain relevant, reliable, and future-ready.

2. Smart Hardware Solutions: Our R&D is heavily focused on developing technology-enabled products such as digital locks, video door phones, and access control systems. These smart solutions cater to modern homes and offices, combining security, convenience, and sleek design.

Alok Aggarwal: Design has become just as important as functionality when it comes to architectural hardware. People are no longer looking for just strong and reliable products, they also want hardware that complements the overall look and feel of a space.

At Ozone, we focus on offering minimal, sleek and modern hardware solutions. Products like concealed hinges, slim sliding systems, and concealed door closers are designed to keep the aesthetics clean and clutter-free, while ensuring strength and durability. These solutions blend seamlessly into the space, rather than drawing unnecessary attention.

We also offer a wide variety of finishes including black matt, rose gold, gold, antique brass, tan brass, and phantom grey, so that our hardware can match different interior styles and project themes.

Most of our products are also easy to install, making them suitable for both new builds and renovation projects.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs looking to enter the manufacturing sector?

Alok Aggarwal: My first advice would be to build for the long term. Don’t just chase quick wins; think about how your business can be sustainable in terms of profitability, resource use, and how you treat your people.

In manufacturing, efficiency is everything. Look for ways to streamline operations—whether through smart planning, process optimization, or collaborative setups. For example, clustering similar operations can reduce overheads and foster knowledge sharing.

Another key aspect is time management. Be clear about your priorities, invest early in building the right systems, and surround yourself with a capable, trustworthy team.

And most importantly, stay curious. What used to work in the past might not work in the future. Be ready to adapt, upgrade, and keep learning. Manufacturing is as much about resilience as it is about precision.
