After the US and Europe, Amazon Air gets a grand opening to deliver goods to these Indian cities – Hyderabad
Launched in Seattle in 2016, Amazon Air operates a network of 110 cargo jets to deliver goods to 70 destinations around the world.
Amazon has tied up with Quikjet Cargo Airline Pvt Ltd, a Bengaluru-based cargo carrier, which will fly Boeing 737-800 jets to fly the shipment.
Hyderabad: E-commerce giant Amazon has launched its air freight service in India. The move is seen as Amazon.com Inc’s attempt to expand and speed up delivery in India, one of its key markets in the world. After Europe and the US, India is the third market where Amazon has launched its air service – Amazon Air.
The Amazon Air services were launched by K T Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Industries and Commerce of Telangana at a grand ceremony in Hyderabad.

In India, Amazon has tied up with Quikjet Cargo Airline Pvt Ltd, a Bengaluru-based cargo carrier, which will fly Boeing 737-800 jets to fly the shipments.
“The first e-commerce company in India to have its dedicated air cargo network. Telangana becomes an obvious destination for #Amazon to launch Amazon Air outside NA and Europe (sic),” Y Satish Reddy, Chairman, Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation said in a tweet.
Amazon-branded aircraft will now transport customers’ shipments to major Indian cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai.
Amazon, which competes with Walmart-owned Flipkart in India, said the launch of Amazon Air services in India will support 1.1 million sellers across the country.
According to reports, Amazon has invested over $6.5 billion in India and Amazon Air Freight services are expected to help boost the company’s logistics infrastructure in the country.
