Revolutionizing Medical Tourism: A Conversation with Amit Sharma, Co-founder of Medical Linkers

An Exclusive Interview with Amit Sharma, Co-founder and Senior Vice President at Medical Linkers, a leading medical tourism facilitating company

Amit Sharma, Co-founder and Senior Vice President of Medical Linkers, shares valuable insights into how his company is transforming global healthcare by connecting patients with trusted international medical institutions through innovative, transparent, and patient-centered medical tourism solutions.

What inspired you to co-found Medical Linkers, and how did your professional background contribute to shaping the company’s vision?

Amit Sharma: I have always felt that patients and families should never be alone when dealing with the intricacies of healthcare, no matter if they are abroad, in another city, or even in another hospital.

Treatment-seeking itself is overwhelming and stressful and with the lack of support, patients end up being lonely, anxious and even hopeless at times. I desired to create an experience where one feels supported, guided and cared for along the way.

My training in healthcare management and technology helped equip me with the capabilities to create a system that combines operation efficiency with humane response.

At Medical Linkers, we strive to ensure every patient and his family has someone to turn to. Someone who can give them information, coordinate care and reassure them. The objective was never complex: to make healthcare more caring, assistive and empowering for every patient in India.

Looking back, what were some of the early challenges you faced while building Medical Linkers, and how did you overcome them?

Amit Sharma: One of the biggest obstacles early on was closing the gap between healthcare systems and patient expectations. Most providers and hospitals were reluctant to bring patient-centered technologies into their systems, risking disruption or added complexity.

The second challenge was creating a multidisciplinary team that understood both compassion required for patient care and the accuracy needed in healthcare technology. We were committed even though it was time-consuming to align technology, empathy and compliance but it was worth it.

We overcame these challenges through transparency and repeated demonstration of our value to the patients. We worked closely with healthcare professionals to co-create solutions, held onboarding sessions for families and built our credibility from our work. We want to strengthen the human connection in healthcare.

How does Medical Linkers differentiate itself in the competitive healthcare technology space?

Amit Sharma: Most platforms excel at the efficiency of operations alone, but we integrate empathy within our operations. We optimize care coordination and communication processes so that our services are designed to empower and care throughout the treatment process.

We emphasise on curated care for families as well considering healthcare impacts everyone around the patient.

Our services are accessible to patients from every region, language and socio-economic strata. Beyond the technological aspect, we are committed to create trust through open, responsive communication and individual attention for personalized care.

Medical Tourism is an industry that evolves quickly, so it is important to create experiences for patients and their families where they feel safe, heard and cared for no matter what they are going through.

Can you talk about any recent innovations or projects that you are particularly proud of?

Amit Sharma: We are always striving to make healthcare more accessible, compassionate and patient-focused. Emerging technologies such as AI into our healthcare operations have helped us streamline our care coordination and communication.

We can better anticipate our patient needs, simplify processes between hospitals and families and supply timely advice, all while preserving the human touch that underpins everything we do.

Our programs ensure families are kept informed and assured throughout the treatment journey, which helps significantly reduce stress and uncertainty. Small interventions like personalized check-in or proactive follow-ups will make a meaningful difference in patient care.

The exciting part is mostly seeing how innovations come together to create efficient and compassionate experiences. When technology is applied thoughtfully, it amplifies our ability to support patients and families in real time. The future of healthcare lies in combining innovation with compassion.

How is technology transforming healthcare delivery, and what trends do you believe will shape the industry in the next five years?

Amit Sharma: Technology is changing healthcare by bringing care within reach, within a fraction of the time, and within data-driven insights.

Telemedicine, AI-assisted diagnostics, and remote monitoring allow patients to receive timely interventions without necessarily having to travel.

But most fundamentally, these solutions cannot subtract from humanity because empathy, direction, and reassurance remain necessary.

Over the course of the next five years, I believe that healthcare will increasingly rely on unified digital ecosystems that bring patients, families, and providers together and connect them seamlessly.

AI will be able to forecast complications and suggest interventions, but human support and judgment will remain the driving force behind every choice.

Patient engagement platforms, remote monitoring, and personalized care tools will be standard, but only if they are able to maintain trust and emotional support will they succeed.

Finally, technology should not only correct clinical problems; it should remove anxiety, improve the care experience, and prevent patients and families from ever feeling isolated on their healthcare journey. Combining intelligence with empathy will be the signature of the future generation of healthcare.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a healthcare entrepreneur, and what lessons have you learned from them?

Amit Sharma: As a healthcare entrepreneur, the biggest challenge has been balancing innovation with the responsibility of patient safety and emotional well-being.

Healthcare is extremely personal, and decisions must be thought through and ethically motivated. Gaining trust from patients and providers is another challenge.

These experiences taught me the importance of resilience, patience and the value of being an active listener to both patients and professionals. Prioritizing human experience is essential as well as listening to active feedback.

I realize that technology alone cannot transform healthcare but must be accompanied by compassion, guidance and support. These ethos all guide our decisions as patient care is at the core of our innovation.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs entering the healthtech industry?

Amit Sharma: My suggestion to tomorrow’s healthtech leaders would be to innovate boldly but always with empathy and responsibility. Healthcare is about people. By being transparent, responsive and compassionate, we build trust. See each chance to learn and innovate.

There will be problems, operational difficulties and skepticism but see each as an opportunity to learn and innovate.

Technology will help us enhance care, communication and support. Constantly refine and listen actively to feedback. Entrepreneurs who solve real world problems while maintaining their ethical, patient-centered values will be at the forefront of the industry.

Through his vision and dedication, Amit Sharma continues to drive Medical Linkers toward redefining medical tourism, ensuring accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare for patients worldwide while fostering meaningful collaborations across the global medical landscape.
