Apple continuously expanding business operations in India: Piyush Goyal

April 15, 2023: In a recent statement, Indian Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, said that Apple is rapidly expanding its business operations in India.

The tech giant has been setting up manufacturing units and investing in local supply chains in the country, aiming to increase its production capacity.

This expansion is a result of the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, which aims to encourage foreign companies to invest in the country’s manufacturing sector and create job opportunities for the local population.

Apple’s increased presence in India will not only create employment opportunities but also boost the country’s economy.

Piyush Goyal noted that Apple has already started manufacturing the iPhone SE and iPhone 11 models in India, and the company plans to expand its product line in the country.

He added that Apple’s move to diversify its supply chains and production base in India is a step towards strengthening the country’s manufacturing capabilities.

Apple has also been investing in India’s app development industry, partnering with local developers to create apps specifically designed for the Indian market.

The company recently launched the App Accelerator program in Bangalore, which provides guidance and support to Indian developers looking to create innovative apps for Apple devices.

With its increasing focus on the Indian market, Apple is poised to become a major player in the country’s technology industry.

The company’s efforts to expand its business operations in India will not only benefit Apple but also contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.

According to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Apple is rapidly expanding its business operations in India, and the Indian government is actively supporting the company’s efforts.

Goyal noted that the electronics industry operates by setting up a basic infrastructure and then sourcing various components to add to their ecosystem.

Apple currently has manufacturing partners such as Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron in India, who manufacture iPhones for the company.

Goyal has previously announced that India’s mobile and electronics exports have doubled in the last year, with Apple alone exporting $5 billion worth of goods from India.

Goyal also stated that Apple plans to have 25% of its global production come from India within the next 4-5 years, a move that will not only benefit the company but also contribute to the growth of India’s economy.
