Arpit Raj is a young entrepreneur. He is the founder of Chaai Seth, fastest growing Tea Franchise in India. Let’s learn more about his inspirational journey and his advice for our growing community!

This is the interview of Arpit Raj, Indian entrepreneur and founder of Chaai Seth by Bractburd Food and Beverage Pvt Ltd.

Tell us a little about yourself

Arpit Raj: I had a upper middle class family with ‘Job is good Mentality’. I was lucky enough to have a supportive family and friends circle.

I hold a BBA in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, MBA in Marketing and now pursuing additional Master’s in English, as I believe education is something that should never be stopped!

I had total 2 years of working experience in startup when I started my own venture in a proper way, I have total 4+ years experience now.

How did you get your idea or concept for the business?

Arpit Raj: The things started back in 2015 when I was pursuing my bachelor’s. I along with few local friends started a Tea tapri with our savings to have a common place for hangout. Gradually it became our meeting “adda”.

But in my final year, I got placed in New Delhi in a food startup, and the venture was vanished for a while !

But after working there for 2 years, I thought to re-start my own venture which I left behind. But now since I wanted to do it on a bigger scale, I started looking for co founders with similar mindset and will. Luckily I found Mr. Prateek who was working in KPMG and Mr. R.K.Kala an experienced yet dedicated guy who now handles the operations part.

We are now aiming to reach every nocks and corners of India through our own and franchisees outlets where we seem to provide healthy, hygienic, tasty, and affordable food and beverage experience to our end to end customers.

What service(s) or product(s) do you offer?

Arpit Raj: We have 25+ variety of Tea and other fast food items which are well balanced in terms of taste and price!

What is unique about your business?

Arpit Raj: We keep on experimenting new things as the market keeps on upgrading every day! We keep on updating new things, and probably we are the only brand in India with unique recipes provided with tea.

What made you choose this type of business?

Arpit Raj: The idea was simple to have a proper place for hygienic, healthy, and tasty food with affordable price. These 4 combination is very rare to find in today’s era, we worked on it, and are providing these 4 combination together.

What was your mission at the outset?

Arpit Raj: We seem to have 300+ outlets by 2025, and have already opened and booked 59 outlets till now in PAN India. Joining hands with similar like minded people who have keen to grow and develop.

Aslo, we are generating a huge job opportunity not only for the educated one, but also for the semi skilled and uneducated people.

How many employees in your organization?

Arpit Raj: In total we have 8 core team members, and total staffs as 22 presently

What’s your company’s goals?

Arpit Raj: The goal is simple to have a common name for hangout “Chaai Seth” when it comes about tea and friends!

How do you build a successful customer base?

Arpit Raj: Food industry runs on taste and quality. Doesn’t matter how much we do marketing and promotions, customer comes only once, they will come next time; even they’ll bring 50 more customers only when they find the food tasty and hygienic.

So, the overall strategy was to work on ourselves and to build a loyal customer base by focusing on their needs that is- taste, quality and hygiene.

What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Arpit Raj: One of the biggest failure was thinking and going in a similar way !!
Like almost all the industries, the food industry was heavily affected because of the Covid Pandemic.

During the lockdown all our outlets were closed, and we had to face financially as well.
I learnt not to focus on only one thing, but to diversify the business into different segments.

We end up starting 2 more companies which includes “wynswell Global business services, which is a Business, Management and Tax consultancy firm where we have set of lawyers and Chartered accountants working with us, we provide professional services under one roof!
And we even invested in another pharmacy venture ‘A2Z Medicals’.

Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Arpit Raj: My family and friends have been the Greatest inspiration for me, as I have learnt the art of being patience and moving ahead even if the situation isn’t favourable.

I’ve learnt from my family that situation will never be in our favour, we really need to grab it if we want to get it.

What are some of the biggest mistakes you’ve made?

Arpit Raj: The biggest mistakes I have ever made is waiting for the right time to start !
Being in the industry for the last couple of years, I can say that one shouldn’t wait for the right time. The right time would never come, today is the right time to start, start today only.

If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?

Arpit Raj: I would advice people to start now only even with limited resources, limited knowledge. Take your first step today, listen to your seniors and industry leaders , and trust in yourself and the process.

Does your company help the community or society?

Arpit Raj: We are helping the society in a very unique way!! In india, the major issue is employability. The educated ones can get the job no doubt, but what about the semi literate and illetrate commodity!

Through chaai Seth we are generating huge employability to all class of the society even to those who are unskilled and illiterate. This is one of the major reasons we are now DPIIT Approved startup, by government of India.
