Ashok Soota was born on 12 November 1942 in what is now the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan. His father was a doctor in the British Indian army. He spent a part of his childhood in North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan. He had “studied in 12 schools. He completed his Inter Science and Senior Cambridge at La Martinere, Lucknow.

Ashok Soota received his Bachelor of Electronics degree in 1964 from IIT Roorkee, the University of Roorkee. In 1973, Soota pursued his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, Philippines.

In 1965, Ashok started his career with the Shriram Group of Industries in India. From 1984 to 1999, He served as President of Wipro Infotech. In 1999, Ashok Soota co-founded Mindtree with nine former Wipro employees which have currently had an approximate of 20212 employees, a revenue of US$1 Billion, and offices across Europe, Americas, and Asia.

Soota co-founded Happiest Minds Technologies in 2011 in Bangalore, India. Soota is an Indian IT entrepreneur who served for more than 30 years in the IT industry. He is a serial entrepreneur and the executive chairman and co-founder of Happiest Minds Technologies.

In 1992, He was awarded by the Electronic Component Industries Association (ELCINA) as the Electronics Man of the year.

A common friend—Anand Koka—recommended his name to Indian business tycoon and chairman of Wipro Limited, Azim Premji. At that time, Azim Premji was also looking for somebody to run his new IT business. Azim wooed Ashok Soota for eight months.

Along with other executives like Arun Thiagarajan, Ashok Narasimhan, and Vivek Paul, He made Wipro Technologies into an IT powerhouse. Soota was at the top of the game in the company when he quit Wipro Technologies in 1999.

Ashok Soota has founded Happiest Minds Technologies in 2011 with Joseph Anantaraju, Puneet Jetli, Aurobinda Nanda, Dattatreya Salagame, Salil Godika, Raja Sekher, and Raja Shanmugam.
