Facebook has appointed Red bull’s Avinash Pant as the marketing head for India
Facebook recently appointed Avinash Pant for a new Leadership – Marketing Director. Pant is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and the new director brings along an experience of twenty-two years working with leading consumer brands like Nike, Coca-Cola, The Walt Disney Company and last one at Reb bull.
The company aims to boost its consumer marketing efforts across its bunch of apps including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Avinash Pant, the new marketing director of Facebook India will report to Ajit Mohan, Vice President, and Managing Director, India. Avinash may be responsible for the Instagram, Facebook mobile app, and WhatsApp.
Last year, the organization focused on a number of India-focused initiatives with specific emphasis on powering entrepreneurship and ensuring gender equality on the internet. Two major programs to boost Small and Medium Businesses include ‘Boost with Facebook’ and the ‘VC Brand Incubator Program’.
Facebook made a minority investment in Meesho, an Indian-origin social commerce platform founded by IIT Delhi graduates Sanjeev Barnwal and Vidit Aatrey and a social-commerce venture empowering women entrepreneurs in small towns.
