Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries to get free Covid-19 tests, treatment

Test, treatment of COVID-19 to be free for 50 crores Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries (PMJAY) by the central government.

On Saturday, the National Health Authority (NHA), which implements the national health insurance scheme, confirmed that Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries will get free tests and treatment of COVID-19 under Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme.

The central government, which runs Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PM JAY) will provide free testing and treatment facilities of coronavirus to over 50 crore beneficiaries.

National Health Authority (NHA) also said that Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries will be able to avail of the free testing and treatment of COVID-19 at private laboratories and empanelled hospitals. coronavirus testing and treatment is already free in public facilities.

More than 50 crore beneficiaries eligible under the health assurance scheme will get free coronavirus COVID-19 testing and treatment under Ayushman Bharat Yojna, the statement said.

Empanelled hospitals and private labs will be geared up to provide the free testing and treatments to the beneficiaries, it will help attract more private sector players for providing COVID-19 treatment and testing, NHA said.

This will strengthen the country’s response to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus pandemic, testing and treatment of novel coronavirus by private hospitals will be covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojna, the National Health Authority (NHA) said.
