Baba Ramdev’s Divya Pharmacy Revoked Ban On Manufacture Of 5 Medicines

November 15, 2022: The Uttarakhand Ayurveda Authority directed the company to stop manufacturing 5 drugs, which the company claims are used to treat diabetes, blood pressure, goiter, glaucoma and high cholesterol.

The Uttarakhand Ayurveda and the Unani Licensing Authority on Sunday lifted the ban on yoga guru and Patanjali co-founder Baba Ramdev‘s Divya Pharmacy, which manufactures Patanjali products in India.

The state’s Ayurveda agency directed the company to stop manufacturing 5 drugs, which the company claims are used to treat diabetes, blood pressure, goiter, glaucoma and high cholesterol.

The authority has now modified the earlier order and allowed the company divya pharmacy to continue manufacturing the five drugs. GCN Jangpangi, the state authority’s drug controller, said there was a mistake in the earlier order, which he said was issued in haste.

“We should have given the company time to explain its stand before issuing the order,” Jangpangi said. Ramdev’s close associate Acharya Balkrishna praised the Uttarakhand Ayurveda and Unani Licensing Authority’s decision to revoke the ban.

Drugs banned in the previous order include Bpgrit, Madhugrit, Thyrogrit, Lipidom tablets and Eyegrit Gold tablets, which the company claims are used to treat blood pressure, diabetes, goiter, glaucoma and high cholesterol.

Patanjali Success Story

The company can resume their manufacturing of the drug only after the authority approves their revised formulation sheet, the notice said.

A doctor from Kerala K.V. was the one who filed the complain against it. The order was issued after Babu alleged that Divya Pharmacy had violated the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Babu filed a formal complaint with the Uttarakhand Ayurveda Authority on July 2022 and followed it up with another complaint on October 11.

Following the complaints, an order signed by State Health Authority Joint Director and Drug Controller GCN Jangapangi has sought a response from Divya Pharmacy within a week.
