Join Rinky Gupta and Pratik Sheth, founders of Barker and Meowsky, Mumbai’s trusted pet care provider offering boarding, daycare, grooming, and hydrotherapy. Discover their vision for urban pet wellness, turning chaotic lives into joyful second homes for furry friends.
What inspired you both to start Barker and Meowsky?
As a pet parent, I always felt a gap in the kind of care I wished existed for my own pets a place that felt personal, responsible, and emotionally aware. Barker and Meowsky began as my dream to build that space.
For me, it was simple pets give us unconditional love, and they deserve a second home that respects that. We wanted to create a centre where comfort, safety and transparency come first.
What is the core philosophy guiding Barker and Meowsky, and how do you define holistic pet wellness for Indian pet parents?
Holistic wellness isn’t just grooming or boarding; it’s understanding the heart and mind of every pet. Their emotions matter as much as their physical needs.
Our philosophy is personalised care. No two pets have the same temperament. Our job is to understand them deeply and build routines that support their emotional, social, and physical wellbeing.
How have you seen pet parent expectations change in urban India, and how did you adapt your services to meet those changes?
Pet parents today want involvement they want updates, transparency, and a place that treats their pet with the same sensitivity as they do.
We adapted by becoming more community driven. Smaller batches, real-time communication, hydrotherapy, curated activities everything we offer today is a response to what modern pet parents genuinely need.
What does a typical day look like for dogs or cats attending Barker and Meowsky day-care? Any unique experiences for first-timers?
We focus on balanced routines play, rest, enrichment, socialisation and lots of human interaction. Every pet gets space to be themselves.First-timers are special for us.
We go slow, let them explore, pair them with the right friends and assign a caretaker they connect with. Many shy pets end up surprising their parents by opening up on day one.
Where do you see the future of holistic, community-driven pet wellness in India, and how are you preparing for it?
India is shifting towards more conscious pet parenting. People want integrated wellness and long-term guidance, not just one-off services.
We’re preparing for that by building stronger processes, training teams, adding specialised services like hydrotherapy and behaviour-focused routines, and strengthening our community culture.
What advice do you have for aspiring founders entering the pet care or wellness industry?
Lead with empathy for pets and for parents. This industry needs heart before anything else. Don’t rush it. Build trust brick by brick, understand the animals you serve, and stay involved on the floor. The pets will teach you what your business truly needs.
Rinky Gupta and Pratik Sheth’s Barker and Meowsky sets new pet care benchmarks with transparency, trust, and tailored enrichment. Pet parents gain peace knowing their companions thrive in a loving, professional haven. Their story inspires holistic urban pet parenting.
