Bhagyashree is an Indian actress and social worker. She is known for acting in Hindi television & movies.

In 1989, she made her acting debut with a block buster film Maine Pyar Kiya. She acted as Suman against Salman Khan in that movie. For that film she received critical acclaim. It has since become her signature work; for her performance.

Bhagyashree received Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. In 1990s she acted in Tyagi & Rana. Later she focused on her marriage with Himalaya Dasani.

Again she started her career from 2000. During 2000s she appeared in many independent movies like Shotru Dhonsho & Uthaile Ghoonghta Chand Dekhle.

Later in 2006 she acted in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye & in 2010 she appeared in Red Alert: The War Within. Again in 2019, she acted in Seetharama Kalyana.

Along with acting, she directed the television series Studio One in 2005. In Laut Aao Trisha she acted for a television. For Laut Aao Trisha, she was nominated for Indian Television Academy Award.

Early & personal life:

Bhagyashree was born on 23^rd February 1969. She was born in the Marathi Royal family of Sangli, Maharashtra, India. Her father, Vijay Singhrao Madhavrao Patwardhan, was the king of Sangli.

Rajlaxmi Patwardhan was her mother. She is the eldest of their three daughters. She has two sisters named Madhuvanti & Purnima.

In 1990, she married Himalaya Dasani. The couple have two children, a son and a daughter. Her son Abhimanyu Dasani won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his film Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota in 2019. Her daughter Avantika Dasani also debuted with the web-series Mthya.

Television:

She made her television debut with the serial Kachchi Dhoop in 1987. The serial was based on May Alcott’s Little Women.

She was appeared in episode of CID & Kabhie Kabhie. During 2014-2015, after a gap of several years, she made her comeback to television with the TV serial Laut Aao.

Trisha aired on Life OK from. Renowned actor-director Amol Palekar approached her for the role as the original actress abandoned the project abruptly.

In February 2022, She entered as a contestant with her husband, Himalaya Dasani in StarPlus’s Smart Jodi

Cinema:

In 1989, she made her film debut with a commercially successful Hindi movie Maine Pyar Kiya. She acted as Suman in that film against Salman Khan.

It was her most successful and best known film to date, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

In 1990, after marriage to Himalaya Dasani, she acted in three movies named Quaid Main Hai Bulbul, Tyagi & Paayal with her husband Himalaya.

In 1993, Bhagyashree appeared in Ghar Aaya Mera Pardesi with Avinash Wadhwan. During 1990s that was her last Hindi movie.

Later she went on to appear in a few Tamil, Kannada and Telugu films. In 1998, she made her Telugu debut with the movie Yuvaratna Tana.

In the mid-2000, Bhagyashree returned to Hindi cinema with Maa Santoshi & Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. In 2014, she acted in Telugu movie with the Telugu remake of Hindi film 2 States. She acted in Kannada film Seetharama Kalyana in 2019.

In 2021, she will be making a comeback to Hindi cinema. She is having upcoming releases like Thalaivi & Radhe Shayam. In Radhe Shyam, she will appear as the mother of Prabhas.

Other ventures:

In March 2015, Bhagyashree became brand ambassador of the Bhagyashree Scheme which caters to girl child from below poverty line families. The scheme was launched by the Government of Maharashtra
