As Director of GIMS, what is your vision for the institution, and how do you plan to achieve it?

Bhupender Kumar: The vision of the GNIOT Institute of Management Studies is to develop business leaders with social concern and establish centers of excellence in all functional management areas.

We are willing to accomplish our vision through two mission statements, i.e., by developing outcome-based teaching-learning processes and by creating an ecosystem that fosters research.

We develop business leaders by training the students with the best management practices through an esteemed team of faculty and the corporate. Additionally, we provide significant exposure to socially conscious matters to help the students develop into ethical leaders.

For establishing centers of excellence, the institution provides an apt ecosystem for fostering research and adoption of the latest tools in the teaching-learning process.

Functional areas of management, such as marketing, finance, operations, human resources, and business analytics, operate as departments with certain KPIs, as these KPIs are in alignment with our mission and vision statements.

In your opinion, what are the key components of a modern management curriculum that prepare the students for the challenges of the future?

Bhupender Kumar: The key components of the modern management curriculum are keeping it in tune with contemporary industry needs and incorporating futuristic industry changes.

The curriculum shall also be a perfect blend of technology and management, as per the acumen of the intake and industry demand.

How is the GNIOT Institute of Management Studies (GIMS) making a mark in the business management industry? Guide me through its journey.

Bhupender Kumar: GNIOT Institute of Management is making an impact in the business management journey through its contemporary education and producing manager leaders who are making a significant impact in corporate and government administration.

The GNIOT group has started its journey with 240 engineering students. Today, the GNIOT group hosts over 8000 students, managed by 600 faculty and represented by 19,000 alumni across the globe.

The group offers 17 courses through 7 campuses. This explains volumes about the trust industry investing in the GNIOT group.

With over 21 years of experience in research and consulting, how do you integrate your research findings into teaching and alternative practices?

Bhupender Kumar: The research and consulting experience is reflected in curriculum design and the teaching pedagogy through which the curriculum is delivered. It is also applied in developing research culture amongst the faculty, colleagues, and students.

The research profile of the institute contributes to intellectual capital in terms of patents, case studies, projects, and intellectual instruments of such kind.

What role do you believe higher education institutions should play in their local communities?

Bhupender Kumar: The educational institutions shall focus more on developing manpower that can contribute positively to the civic ecosystem of society.

The students shall be given a chance to explore innate capabilities and passions along with professional education.

What are your thoughts on the future of higher education in the context of management studies?

Bhupender Kumar: In the future, management studies shall focus more on the amalgamation of technology and management.

With AI, data analytics, and automation transforming industries, students will be taught how to use technology for strategic decision-making and effective management.

The curriculum will be geared towards real-world applications and industry partnerships to make future leaders adaptive.

Additionally, business schools will integrate more digital tools so that graduates are ready for dynamic, tech-savvy environments while retaining core management principles.

What advice would you give to aspiring educators and leaders in the field of higher education?

Bhupender Kumar: Aspiring educators shall design courses that are highly industry-relevant and develop futuristic skills amongst the students.

The institutes shall also focus on developing job creators rather than job seekers. Further, the institutes shall develop a teaching pedagogy that ensures sustainable knowledge management amongst the aspirants.
