ChatGPT AI Chatbot Will Come With Ways To Generate Investment Returns For Investors, Says CEO Sam Altman
January 2023: When Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, was asked about their future plans for monetization – whether they would have customers, or consider licensing technology – he said, “We have no idea.” However, they may themselves ask ChatGPT to design a plan to generate investment returns for the investors.
New Delhi: Whether you have used it or not, you must have heard about ChatGPT, the cutting edge AI-powered chatbot that has taken everyone by storm.
Launched in November last year by OpenAI, the basic version of the platform is currently free to use. However, the company has investors and has made a “soft promise” to compensate them.
When CEO Sam Altman asked about the company’s future plans on monetization – whether they would have customers, or consider licensing technologies – he bluntly said, “The official answer is, we have no idea.”
Altman shared that he has a “soft promise” to investors that once he builds such a generally intelligent system, he will ask it to find a way to generate investment returns for him.
After laughing, Altman added that it sounds like a Silicon Valley episode to him. “You can laugh. It’s all right. But I really believe it’s going to happen,” he added.
OpenAI, the company co-founded by Tesla and Twitter boss Elon Musk, received investment from software major Microsoft in 2019.
The Satya Nadella-led company had invested $1 billion in the company and recently announced more investments in OpenAI.
On Monday, Microsoft said, “Today, we are announcing the third phase of our long-term partnership with OpenAI, a multi-year, multibillion-dollar investment to accelerate AI breakthroughs to ensure these benefits are widely shared with the world.” “
Meanwhile, the global artificial intelligence market size was estimated at $65.48 billion in 2020 and is projected to reach $1,581.70 billion over the next 7 years by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 38 percent from 2021 to 2030.
