With a passion for revolutionizing education and a proven track record of leadership, Mr. Mehta has played a pivotal role in shaping Globestar Edutech into a prominent force in the education sector.
His innovative vision and strategic direction have propelled the company to new heights, making it a beacon of excellence in the ever-evolving landscape of global education. In this interview, we delve into Mr. Mehta’s journey, his perspectives on the education industry, and the future trajectory of Globestar Edutech.
Can you provide an overview of Globestar Edutech Pvt Ltd and its mission in the education sector?
Dhaval Mehta: Globestar Edutech Pvt Ltd is a parent company for TNI Career Counselling (TCC) and Globestar Consultancy Services (GCS) with a mission to make a difference in the education industry. While TCC focuses on individuals and institutions, GCS is concerned with helping other institutions to build, maintain, and scale a distinct structure in the world of education.
Our four verticals include B2B counselling cell and management for schools and universities, B2C profile building, test prep and application guidance, SaaS based career and profile building platform with student, mentor, mentor dashboards, and Institution consulting for market entry, international tie up, curriculum development, student recruitment, and faculty recruitment and training.
TNI was established in 2017 to provide impact-focused, premium admissions advisory and test preparation for undergraduates, masters, MBA, and EMBA programs, guiding students throughout the application process, including university and course selections and helping in profile building.
We have 200+ mentors across the globe covering 50+ career areas advising for 12+ countries and 1200+ universities. We work with 9+ schools on their career and admissions ecosystem, counselling 2500+ 9-12 grades students annually for activities and admissions to 12+ countries.
Our dedicated team of counsellors bond closely with clients, helping them throughout the admission process and beyond. We take pride in our students’ success. Consequently, we have a high satisfaction rate with 1000+ students advised and $8.5+ million in scholarships.
GCS was established in 2023 with a vision to help other institutions in the tech industry to refine and succeed. We offer a range of solutions, including market entry, enrollment, management, recruiting, training, curriculum building, and technology to fill their diverse needs. Currently we have collaborated with 5+ universities to scale their operations and recruit with clients across India, the US, and the UK.
We aim to work with more institutions in helping them with resource planning, curriculum development, internationalization, so they could get students from outside and also send their students overseas to study and work.
In what ways has Globestar Edutech leveraged technology to enhance the learning experience for students?
Dhaval Mehta: Globestar Edutech is a technology-based education consultancy and understands how to leverage technology for optimal usage, maximizing student and industry experiences. We had gone hybrid and were using online platforms such as zoom and google meet even before the pandemic, and always look forward to using new and effective tools.
We have aced the use of interactive learning platforms with sites such as Blinkist, Coursera, and Online Internships that aims to make student learning more engaging, interesting, and impactful. We also use online collaboration tools such as Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word/PowerPoint for online assessments and feedback.
Could you highlight some key initiatives and programs that Globestar Edutech has undertaken to make education more accessible and effective?
Dhaval Mehta: Globestar Edutech understands the need for making education more accessible and effective and forever works in this direction to expose Indian students to the best education in India and overseas. We have collaborated with local and national universities to introduce new programs and make curriculum changes so that they reflect the changing needs of industries.
For example, we are helping Bharati Vidyapeeth group to build a Liberal Arts college in Navi Mumbai where students can explore new courses and options apart from the usual arts, science, and commerce streams.
Recently, we have collaborated with 12+ institutions in Japan for higher studies as it provides an exciting job market for students from STEM and economics backgrounds. Japan’s dwindling population has made it a welcoming place for Indian students aspiring for high-paying jobs and a better lifestyle.
With three to six months of Japanese language training, students can prepare for a bright academic and professional future in this East Asian country.
What challenges do you see in the education sector today, and how is Globestar Edutech addressing these challenges?
Dhaval Mehta: India is growing and we need to have the right programs in place to help the country in its growth. There is a need to develop professionals for different fields to deal with the country’s diverse and upcoming requirements. Currently, there is a gap in the kind of programs students seek and what they are delivered.
Most institutions focus on courses in core areas of sciences and commerce, ignoring the needs of the liberal arts students. In fact, even the popular courses are not suitably designed to appeal to the tech-age scholars. Globestar Edutech is reaching out to the student population to hear their voices and understand their needs and help institutions to design their programs and curriculums accordingly.
We are connecting with new as well as old groups of institutions to rejuvenate their programs to appeal to more students and also to provide well-trained professionals to the booming Indian industries.
Next, there is a lack of career cells across schools which could adequately advise students on suitable careers based on their interests and aptitudes. We are working with institutions to establish strong career cells to benefit all students.
There is also a lack of resources to help students reach their full potential. Globestar Edutech is helping institutions with resource management to improve the student and university ecosystem and make learning more fun and comprehensive. Hence, we are identifying and addressing issues everywhere.
Collaboration is crucial in the ed-tech space. Can you share examples of successful partnerships or collaborations that have contributed to the company’s success?
Dhaval Mehta: Collaboration is indeed crucial in the ed-tech space as it opens up new possibilities and provides multiple insights to work on problems. Our collaborations with several national and international institutions have opened up our eyes to the needs of students and institutions, wherein we work to cater to both.
By understanding student needs, we suggest institutions to design new curriculums or programs. Similarly, by understanding industry and institutional expectations, we prepare students for innovative programs.
For example, partnering with Bharati Vidyapeeth Rabindranath Tagore School of Excellence (BVRTSE) has opened our minds to the requirements and dreams of students from grades 8th to 12th. It provided us insights into what programs, courses, and education pathways they seek. BVRTSE now wants to start a liberal arts education school in Navi Mumbai and has asked our help to transform their vision into reality.
What are your success tips for young and aspiring entrepreneurs?
Dhaval Mehta: The three success tips that I would like to give to the young and aspiring entrepreneurs is to identify a gap in the market, build a product around that gap, and don’t hesitate in taking risks. Don’t just jump into the market with a product that already has an established market, as it won’t distinguish you or your company.
Always do some market research before working on a product as it would allow you to identify a gap and give you ideas to bridge that gap. Also, the returns are inversely proportional to the risks. Take healthy risks and you will be rewarded with exceptional results.
Add something about the upcoming summit and how we can Bridge the Gap between International vs. Indian Curriculum Practices.
Dhaval Mehta: The University of Michigan International Leadership Summit is planned over a six-day period, where we bring down the dean and faculty of University of Michigan to India. The first three days, 28 January 2024 to 30 January 2024, are held in Mumbai and from 1st February 2024 to 3rd February 2024 we will be addressing the Delhi crowd. This first-of-its-kind summit in India is meant to train, teach, and give immense support to the Indian education leaders, making education more impactful for all students.
Although the Indian education system has undergone tremendous reforms, there are still many areas needed to be covered to transform it to the international standard. The biggest gap lies in the varying standard of education that we can find inside the country. Today there is a vast difference in the type of education one finds in rural and urban settings.
The government’s biggest challenge is to overcome this gap and ensure uniformity throughout the nation. There is a drastic need to train the educators too as they are the ones who have a major impact on students’ education. Next, we need to build the right infrastructure that promotes a learning environment. Lastly, we need to make changes inside the classrooms, especially upgrade the curriculums to match courses with industry needs.
If you could share some tips on Instructional Round (IR) for Educators to improve collective teaching practice in India.
Dhaval Mehta: Instructional Round (IR) is a highly structured approach to help educators get a close observation on classroom happenings in a focused, purposeful, and systematic manner. It allows them to fulfill individual requirements and bridge learning gaps.
This collaborative, protocol-driven process provides a structure to educators to find solutions to common problems in classrooms and plan strategies and changes to ensure each student fulfills the grade-wise educational objective.
The members should be a combination of school leaders and teachers as the former can implement the changes based on the latter’s observations and suggestions. The process will work best in the face of a strong, collaborative, learning community where each member is accountable for his or her observation.
I believe you will get more insight on IR and other education approaches in the International Leadership Summit planned at the end of the month.
In conclusion, our conversation with Mr. Dhaval Mehta has been a captivating exploration into the dynamic world of global education. His insightful responses shed light on the challenges and triumphs that have marked Globestar Edutech’s journey under his leadership.
It is evident that Mr. Mehta’s visionary approach and commitment to educational excellence continue to drive the company’s success. As Globestar Edutech continues to innovate and adapt to the evolving needs of learners worldwide, Mr. Mehta’s leadership will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future of education on a global scale.
We extend our gratitude to Mr. Dhaval Mehta for sharing his valuable insights and look forward to witnessing the continued success and impact of Globestar Edutech in the realm of education.
