Join us as we explore the story, inspirations, and challenges that have shaped Boba Bhai into the culinary powerhouse it is today.

What inspired the combination of Bubble Tea and K-Pop Burgers at Boba Bhai, and how has the response been from customers?

Dhruv Kohli: The fusion of Bubble Tea and K-Pop Burgers at Boba Bhai was inspired by the surging popularity of K-pop culture in India, especially among the youth. Recognizing the tremendous influence K-pop has on this demographic, coupled with the growing appreciation for Korean cuisine that aligns seamlessly with the Indian taste palate, we envisioned a unique and exciting combination.

Our innovative twist, blending Korean flavors with an Indian touch, sets us apart. The response from customers has been exceptional, marked by a remarkable retention rate and a loyal base of repeat buyers.

As a pioneer in introducing Korean culinary elements to the Indian market, how do you foresee the future of Korean flavors and cuisine in India?

Dhruv Kohli: As trailblazers in introducing Korean culinary elements to the Indian market, we envision a compelling future for Korean flavors and cuisine in India. Much like the rapid assimilation of Indo-Chinese cuisine into the mainstream, we anticipate a similar trend with the emergence of Indo-Korean fusion.

The distinct and vibrant taste profiles of Korean cuisine, combined with our unique approach to Indianizing the flavors, have resonated exceptionally well with consumers. The convergence of these culinary traditions is poised to take the market by storm, creating a dynamic and flavorful culinary fusion that captures the essence of both cultures.

In addition to being the Founder of Boba Bhai, you’re also an Investor at PointOne Capital. How has your experience as an investor influenced your approach to entrepreneurship?

Dhruv Kohli: As an LP at PointOne Capital and a seasoned entrepreneur with two successful exits under my belt, my experience has instilled a valuable perspective that I bring to Boba Bhai. Being a fourth-time entrepreneur, the journey has reinforced the importance of giving back to the community.

Simultaneously, my role as an investor has honed my ability to think strategically about businesses from an investor’s standpoint. This dual role has cultivated a holistic approach, integrating insights from both sides of the investment and entrepreneurial spectrum, ultimately enriching my strategic vision and decision-making at Boba Bhai.

With a strong presence on platforms like Zomato and Swiggy, how does Boba Bhai navigate the competitive landscape and maintain its position in the Bubble Tea market?

Dhruv Kohli: We have been strategically navigating the competitive landscape in the Bubble Tea market by leveraging platforms like Zomato and Swiggy as opportunities to build and scale the brand. Our distinction as a first mover in the organised Bubble Tea and Korean Burger segment grants us a competitive edge.

The experience and expertise of our team, demonstrated by their prior success in building businesses on these platforms, further solidify our advantage. We view these platforms not only as avenues for customer reach but also as strategic tools to establish and maintain our position in a competitive market, ensuring Boba Bhai remains a prominent choice for enthusiasts of Bubble Tea delights.
