Can you share with us your journey and how you decided to start Gulori?

Dishit Nathwani: Having grown up in a family business that built Gulab Oils from the ground up, I developed an instinct for entrepreneurship early on.

After joining the family business in 2014 and seeing how quickly it scaled, I felt the urge to create something of my own – something that bridged heritage with innovation. Gulori was born out of this vision, marrying India’s ancient skincare rituals with modern sensibilities and sustainable practices.

What inspired you to start the brand, particularly focusing on the beauty industry?

Dishit Nathwani: The luxury skincare space lacked authentic Indian representation. As someone with extensive knowledge of oils and a deep appreciation for our traditional beauty practices, I saw an opportunity to elevate Indian skincare onto the global luxury platform.

I envisioned Gulori not as a brand, but a movement to reintroduce Ayurvedic wisdom into modern self-care, while fostering a deeper connection to our roots.

Could you describe the Gulori Selling Proposition (USP) within your industry?

Dishit Nathwani: Gulori’s USP lies in its spiritual and cultural depth. We are not just creating products, we are reviving rituals. Each formulation is crafted during Purnima, the full moon, when nature’s energy is at its peak, infusing our skincare with both efficacy and intention.

Our therapeutic oils – be it for hair, skin, or wellness – are potent blends of Ayurvedic ingredients and cold-pressed oils that transform everyday self-care into moments of mindful luxury.

In what ways do you stay updated with the latest trends and developments in your industry to ensure the brand remains competitive?

Dishit Nathwani: Staying relevant in a dynamic industry like beauty requires a mix of intuition, research and connection. I travel extensively to study global beauty trends, while also staying rooted in consumer behavior here in India.

Our digital platforms allow us to maintain an active dialogue with our community and we continually test, listen and adapt – whether that is through innovative formulations or storytelling that resonates.

How does your brand implement ethical practices?

Dishit Nathwani: Gulori’s foundation is deeply rooted in sustainability, purity and purpose. From sourcing natural, cruelty-free ingredients to using eco-friendly packaging and minimal waste production processes, we take a holistic approach.

Our brand philosophy, inspired by the Sanskrit verse about not polluting the world while safeguarding our lives, drives every decision we make.

6. Future vision and expansion plans of the brand?

Dishit Nathwani: We’re on a mission to take Indian beauty rituals global. While we’ve built a strong presence across 18+ cities in India, the next step is to expand internationally. We envision Gulori becoming a global ambassador for Indian wellness, introducing the world to our heritage, one product at a time. 

What are your success tips for young and aspiring entrepreneurs?

Dishit Nathwani: A few tipsI would like to share with younger entrepreneurs is – (a) Start by building a great product that can break through today’s clutter. (b) Build a team who believes in the product and the vision of the founder. (c) Last but not least, focus on execution more than ideation.
