Can you share your journey in education and what initially motivated you to dedicate over 25 years to this field?

Dr. Neelima Vardhan Kamrah: Inspired by a legacy of dedication to education, my journey in the eld of teaching and administration has been profoundly shaped by the values instilled in me by my father.

As a devoted economics teacher, he not only dedicated his life to education but also inspired me to develop a deep passion for teaching, a love for reading, and a lifelong commitment to learning.

Born in a populous nation where quality education remains a dream for many, I dedicated my life to the cause of education, believing it to be the greatest service.

With Master’s degrees in Chemistry and Education and a Ph.D. in Multiple Intelligence, my journey began as an Administrative Officer at Rashtra Shakti Vidyalaya,Hastsal, later serving as Vice Principal at KIIT World School, Pitampura, for 23 years.

Watching KIIT grow by leaps and bounds to become one of the most prominent quality schools in North Delhi under my guidance has been immensely fulfilling. Recognition through the State Award for Best Teacher, alongside various national and international accolades, has been both humbling and motivating.

In 2017, I undertook the role of Principal at KIIT World School, Gurgaon, establishing a progressive green campus with over 2,000 trees, shrubs, and herbs.. Together, we earned the Gold Award for Green Campus, reflecting my commitment to holistic and sustainable education.

My journey as an educator has been one of commitment, growth, and a relentless drive to nurture young minds, believing that every child holds the promise of a brighter tomorrow. I am dedicated to nurturing their potential while continually growing as a lifelong learner myself.

How do you incorporate diverse cultural perspectives into the curriculum to enrich students’ learning experiences?

Dr. Neelima Vardhan Kamrah: I believe that a curriculum should represent the diversity of our global community. During my tenure at KIIT World School, I developed my educational philosophy of GRADE – Gratitude, Regularity, Attitude of Positivity, Dutifulness, and Etiquette of Ethics.

I envisioned creating global citizens rooted in Indian values, ensuring they maintain their cultural identity while developing healthy values. I incorporate diverse cultural perspectives into the curriculum by creating opportunities for students to connect with their roots while appreciating global cultures.

Our curriculum integrates global best practices with local heritage, encouraging students to explore history, arts, and literature from around the world.

Activities such as cultural exchange programs, language learning, and collaborative projects foster cross-cultural understanding. Inculcating the right attitude and behavior must start at a very young age, which is why I’ve taken special care to design spaces in the school that promote peace, connect students with history, instill nationalistic values, and foster an appreciation for Vedic culture.

Our campus features 14 busts of Indian leaders who shaped the nation, a serene Yagyashala accommodating 500 people, and thoughtfully designed gardens and silent corners.

I personally study each student’s lifecycle, including academic records, attendance, achievements, and interests, to help teachers craft individual learning plans. It’s truly inspiring to witness the remarkable transformation of our students over time.

In what ways do you integrate Gandhian principles into the educational philosophy at KIIT World School?

Dr. Neelima Vardhan Kamrah: I began my professional journey in 1993 at Rashtra Shakti Vidyalaya, where I was appointed as an administrative officer. The school operated on the philosophy of nation-building and celebrating the leaders who played key roles in India’s independence, such as Mahatma Gandhi.

Till date, I am inspired by GandhiJi and incorporate his teachings into my educational philosophy. I also actively participate in many Gandhian organizations such as Gandhi Darshan, Gandhi Smriti, Harijan Sewak Sangh to name a few.

The core Gandhian values like non-violence, truth, and compassion form the part of our academic approach Values-based assemblies, peace building activities, and community services are part of the curricula that teach them and help them become habitual for these values.

Besides that, our Peace Club “Sadbhavana” encourages students to debate the Gandhian philosophy which helps them ponder upon today’s world needs for oneness, humility, and the sense of responsibility.

How do you ensure that the curriculum at KIIT World School accommodates different learning styles and intelligences?

Dr. Neelima Vardhan Kamrah: At KIIT World School, we ensure the curriculum accommodates different learning styles and intelligences through a holistic, experiential approach.

Our curriculum emphasizes Experiential Learning Experiences, where students engage in real-world projects.

For example, they actively participated in creating walls and furniture using single-use plastic, gaining practical knowledge of sustainability and SDG-focused solutions like Eco Bricks.

We also integrate interdisciplinary art programs, such as crafting traditional Korean artifacts, to expand cultural awareness. Activities like Nukkad Nataks on cleanliness and group projects foster critical thinking and life skills.

Teachers use diverse methods, incorporating empathy and active listening into lessons. Our 360-degree feedback process further personalizes learning, ensuring every student’s growth.

What professional development opportunities do you offer your staff to ensure they remain at the cutting edge of education?

Dr. Neelima Vardhan Kamrah: At KIIT World School, we emphasize continuous learning for both students and educators. Regular workshops, seminars, and training programs keep our teachers updated on the latest educational methodologies.

Collaborations with national and international experts and institutions expose staff to innovative practices they can implement in their classrooms. We encourage participation in conferences, certifications, and peer-exchange programs to inspire and enrich teaching practices.

Our focus on Continuous Professional Development (CPD) empowers teachers to refine their skills, expand their knowledge, and adapt to evolving educational trends.

CPD ensures they stay informed about the latest research and best practices, enhancing their confidence and competence. Through initiatives like CBSE workshops on Art Integration and Strengthening

Assessments, we actively support educators in their professional growth, fostering an environment of lifelong learning.

What has been your proudest achievement as Principal of KIIT World School, Gurugram?

Dr. Neelima Vardhan Kamrah: As Principal of KIIT World School, Gurugram, my proudest achievement has been fostering a nurturing and sustainable environment that shapes our students into compassionate leaders.

This achievement aligns closely with our core ideal values of service, inclusion, and gratitude, which are well connected with both our vision and mission.

I take immense pride in the continuous success of our students, who not only graduate with distinction but remain deeply connected to the school.

The inspiration I draw from Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings has played a significant role in shaping our educational philosophy, where principles like non-violence, truth, and compassion are integral to our approach. These values guide our students to become responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

One of the key milestones of our journey has been KIIT’s recognition for excellence in various fields. The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar for sanitation and hygiene, a 5-star district rating, and a second-place ranking in the Times School Survey 2023 are all testaments to our commitment to academic and operational excellence.

A particularly proud moment has been the appointment of our student, Yoshita Mehta, as the National Brand Ambassador for the Organ Donation Campaign.

This accomplishment not only brings honor to the school but also inspires national change, reflecting our vision of empowering students to drive meaningful social transformation.

Equally rewarding is the recognition of our educators on the national stage. For two consecutive years, our teachers have received the prestigious Sri Sri Awards for Best Teacher in the North Zone.

Ms. Priyanka Yadav was honored in 2023, and Ms. Rashmi Srivastava in 2024. These accolades highlight their exceptional contributions to education and their dedication to the holistic development of our students.

I always encourage both students and teachers to dedicate one hour each to our country and to self-care, as a pathway to success. We must always take immense pride in our nation and contribute to its growth.

Ultimately, what makes me most proud is the environment we’ve cultivated at KIIT World School—one that fosters excellence in both our students and educators.

Together, we continue to make a lasting impact, shaping the future with values rooted in India’s traditions and ethical governance principles.

Dr. Kamrah’s commitment to educational excellence at KIIT World School showcases the power of innovation in shaping young minds.

Her forward-thinking approach ensures that students are not only academically prepared but also equipped to thrive in a dynamic world, making a lasting impact on the future of education.
