Dunzo, Hyperlocal delivery startup was founded by Kabeer Biswas as a small WhatsApp group in July 2014, Kabeer Biswas is an alumnus of the University of Mumbai. It transformed into a hyperlocal, app-based service.
In 2014, Kabeer also launched Hoppr, which was acquired by Hike, a location-based couponing start-up. It is headquartered in Bengaluru, India. Dunzo is Hyperlocal delivery startup that provides delivery services in Gurgaon, Chennai, Mumbai, Noida, Bengaluru, Delhi, Pune, and Hyderabad. It is the first direct investment by Google, to the tune of $12 million in an Indian startup.
Dunzo also operates a Bike Taxi service in Gurgaon along with Co-founders Dalvir Suri, Ankur Agarwal, and Mukund Jha. Dunzo has been around 1 lakh app downloads and currently has 4,000 riders, covering more than 80% of Bengaluru.
Dunzo delivered from sanitary napkins, laundry, a laptop charger forgotten in the office, to cigarettes, beer, important documents, speakers repaired and even large potted plants. In March 2016, Dunzo raised its first round of funding of US$650k from Rajan Anandan, MD of Google India, Blume Ventures, Aspada, and Sandipan Chattopadhyay.
In February 2016, The company migrated from WhatsApp to its own app. Dunzo received US$12 million in a fresh round from Google In December 2017. Dunzo raised INR 34.56 Cr funding by existing investor Alteria Capital on 29 August 2019.
The user raises a task, a delivery executive, called a partner by the company, specifying what they want to be done, is assigned to work on it. Dunzo is a simple app to use.
