Early life and education

Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa. Musk was born to a Maye Musk, Canadian mother, a model and dietitian and South African father, Errol Musk, a South African pilot, electromechanical engineer, property developer, sailor, and consultant and raised in Pretoria, South Africa.

He showed an early interest in computers and programming, and at age 12 he created a video game called Blastar.

After graduating from high school, he attended Queen’s University in Canada before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. He earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and physics.

After graduation, Elon Musk headed to California to pursue a PhD in energy physics at Stanford University, but decided instead to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams.

Neuralink
