When we use the phrase ‘playful parenting’, the typical response that comes from parents is a frown and a stare. Believe it or not, parenting is not meant to be demanding and troublesome! You should revel playing this role and cherish the time you spend with your children. Remember, bringing up children is a great prospect to relive your childhood all over again.
Science approves the powerful role parents play in shaping their child’s short- and long-term success and well-being. There is no doubting the fact that normal, everyday parent–child communications facilitate in effectively shaping a child’s life trajectory.
From infancy, early parent– child engagements build a child’s brain structure. The experience of a sensitive and receptive parent all through childhood confidently influences a child’s achievement and social-emotional capabilities through adolescence, and even into adulthood.
Parents have been and will continue to be told how to parent for centuries. The parenting industry has created a culture of hurried parenting in more current years – a culture where parents feel continuous pressure to make their child ready for the future, rather than enjoying and nurturing them in the present.
All through this, joy, which is a key piece of what makes parenting so commanding is missing. It is time to bring joy to parenting by enlightening how something as seemingly simple and fun as play can formulate children for the 21st century.
Parents can alter the lens on how they perceive day to day interactions with their child when they are reinforced to comprehend how play connects to the science of learning and how playful learning can add to their preferred outcomes.
Whether it’s just throwing a ball, dancing or playing a game of hide and seek, everyone knows play when they view it. Yet most of us fail to comprehend the importance of play in shaping the child’s overall development.
Play is how young children learn to circumnavigate the world, and construct narratives, knowledge and social skills. Play is an indispensable business for children. It is an operative way for parents and children to bond and express love.
Play offers a platform for children to express and cultivate their imagination and creativeness, which are important skills critical for the technology-driven and ground-breaking world we live in.
If you are on a lookout for some new and innovative ideas for playing with your child? These tips will surely help you:
Kitchen ‘Klang’: One of the best places to introduce playful parenting is the kitchen. A steel vessel and a spoon make for a stimulating musical instrument. Tumblers filled with different quantities of water serve the same purpose. So, while you are cooking, your toddler can make music in a safe corner of the kitchen, while you occupy her in conversation.
Encourage pretend play: Pretend play is an exceptional way to boost your child’s mental and overall development. When kids pretend, they are doctors, pirates or detectives or generate their own characters and stories with their dolls and figurines, they are actually making use of their imaginations which will develop their minds.
Inculcate in kids a reading or storytelling: Children learn a great deal from books. Reading will not just encourage your child to become a life-long reader, but will also confidently spark their reasoning and intellectual abilities.
All they take is a little bit of time and some creativity. So, go on and play your way through parenting!
