Engineering isn’t as difficult as people make it sound

Alumna of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park Sanchali Yadav looks back at how her alma mater nurtured her dreams and gave her the confidence to pursue engineering.

Written by Arijit Roy: School isn’t just about marks and homework — it’s about the teachers who believe in you even when you don’t, the subjects that unexpectedly spark joy, and the memories that shape who you become.

For Sanchali Yadav, her years at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park were filled with exactly that. In this segment, she opens up about favourite subjects, career choices, and the teachers whose late-night doubt-clearing calls still make her smile.

How did your teachers at Apeejay help you become who you are today?

They helped me so much! I was never the brightest student, but they always supported me. They’d send me notes on time, and I could call them anytime — even at night — if I had doubts. That kind of support meant a lot.

Which were your favourite subjects in school?

Chemistry was my favourite. It was interesting and fun to learn. Physics felt more difficult, and maths — well, that’s not really my thing!

Were you involved in any extracurriculars or sports in school?

Yes, I played volleyball when I was in Class 8. I wasn’t very active in extracurriculars otherwise, but I did enjoy the sport.

When did you realise engineering was the path you’d take?

It was after Class 10. I was confused between becoming a biologist or going into engineering. Eventually, I realised I loved technology more, so engineering felt like a better fit.

What would you tell current students at the school who are dreaming of becoming engineers?

I’d say, study hard and stay focused on your dreams. Engineering isn’t as difficult as people make it sound — if you stay committed, you’ll get there.

Lastly, what’s one memory of Apeejay Panchsheel Park you carry closest to your heart?

The way my teachers always supported me — no matter what. That unconditional encouragement is something I’ll never forget.
