Fastag will be available for free for 15 days
The government has rolled out the FASTag-based toll collection system across the country. The National Highway Authority of India has announced a special scheme for Fastag to increase the toll collection digitally. the government said on Wednesday that Fastag will be available for free from 15 to 29 February. According to the plan, the Rs 100 fee charged will be waived on NHAI Fastag between February 15 and 29, 2020.
That is, Fastag will be available for free by the end of February. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, these steps have been taken to increase the collection through Fastag. Since December 2019, more than 1 crore of Fastags has been distributed. Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari said that per day income has increased from 68 crore rupees to 87 crore rupees since FASTAG started. Toll collection systems of Fastag are operating on 527 National Highways of the country.
According to the government, the vehicle owner can take free Fastag by reaching any authorized center with a valid registration certificate (RC Book). NHAI’s Fastags will be available at all National Highway plazas, common service centers, regional transport offices, and petrol pumps. However, there has been no change in the deposits for Fastag and limit of security deposits.
