Finance Minister Sitharaman urged American businesses to invest in in India
April 12, 2023: India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, has invited American businesses to invest in India during a virtual event organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF).
Sitharaman highlighted the economic reforms undertaken by India and the opportunities it presents to American investors.
During her speech, Sitharaman said that India has taken several measures to attract foreign investments, including simplification of rules, reduction of corporate tax rates, and promotion of sectors such as renewable energy and infrastructure development.
She emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring a conducive business environment for foreign investors.
The Finance Minister further stated that India is keen to collaborate with the United States on various fronts, including technology, innovation, and research and development.
She highlighted the progress made in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, and education, and invited American businesses to participate in these sectors.
Sitharaman also discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Indian economy and stated that the government has taken several measures to support businesses and individuals affected by the pandemic.
She said that the government is committed to providing a supportive ecosystem to businesses and investors.
The virtual event was attended by several high-profile American and Indian business leaders, including USISPF Chairman John Chambers, USISPF President, and CEO Mukesh Aghi, and CEOs of various American companies.
The event focused on strengthening the economic partnership between the United States and India and exploring new investment opportunities.
The United States is one of the largest investors in India, with investments totaling over $45 billion over the past two decades.
With the Indian government’s focus on attracting foreign investments and improving the ease of doing business, it is expected that the economic partnership between the two countries will continue to grow in the coming years.
