Harsh, now working at Loc ‘n’ Apps in Gurugram, shares his transformative journey from ASU to becoming a professional animator.

What motivated you to pursue a Bachelor of Design in Animation at ASU?
After completing my 12th board, I was at a crossroads regarding my career path. My passion for
storytelling and visual arts, combined with the burgeoning gaming industry in India, guided me towards animation. ASU’s reputation for fostering creativity and its comprehensive curriculum made it the perfect choice. I was driven by the vision of building a community and delivering top-notch games in India.
How did ASU’s curriculum and faculty contribute to your growth as an animator?
ASU’s curriculum was meticulously designed to cover both theoretical and practical aspects of animation. The faculty, comprising industry professionals and seasoned educators, provided invaluable insights and mentorship.
Their guidance, along with the challenging projects assigned, played a crucial role in my development. One of the most impactful projects was creating a short animated film in my final year, which pushed me to explore new animation styles and techniques.
Can you share some memorable experiences from your time at ASU?
One of the most memorable moments was the annual animation showcase, where we presented our
projects to professors and peers. Seeing my work appreciated by professionals was exhilarating.
Another highlight was collaborating with students from other disciplines on projects, which broadened my perspective and enhanced my teamwork skills. The vibrant campus environment and the culture of
creativity at ASU were incredibly inspiring.
How did ASU prepare you for the professional world?
ASU’s emphasis on practical learning, creativity, and innovation was instrumental in preparing me for the animation industry. Working on real-world projects and receiving constructive feedback helped me
develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed professionally.
Additionally, ASU provided numerous professional development opportunities, such as workshops, seminars, and networking events with industry professionals.
What skills gained at ASU have been most valuable in your role at Loc ‘n’ Apps?
The strong understanding of animation principles, proficiency in industry-standard software, and ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines have been invaluable.
Soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, honed during my time at ASU, have also been crucial in my role. These skills have helped me tackle diverse and challenging animation projects at Loc ‘n’ Apps.
What advice would you give to current students at ASU?
I would advise students to actively participate in all practical projects and seek feedback from faculty to continuously improve their skills. Networking with industry professionals, attending workshops, and
building a strong portfolio are essential.
Internships provide valuable industry experience, so take advantage of them. And most importantly, “EXPLORE MORE” and “OBSERVE MORE.” The opportunities for learning and growth at ASU are immense.
How did ASU help you develop essential soft skills?
ASU emphasised the importance of soft skills through group projects, presentations, and leadership
opportunities. Working on collaborative projects taught me the value of teamwork and effective
communication.
Leading projects helped me develop leadership skills, which have been invaluable in my professional career. The supportive and collaborative environment at ASU played a significant role in my overall development.
