Satnam Singh, Deputy Manager at ICICI Bank, shares how his learnings at Apeejay School of Management powers his everyday success
By Arijit Roy: Satnam Singh, currently serving as Deputy Manager at ICICI Bank in Rayya, Punjab, is an alumnus of Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, where he pursued his PGDM in Marketing and Finance.
In this interview, he reflects on his professional life, work ethic, and the lessons from ASM that continue to guide him.
What does a regular day at work look like for you at ICICI Bank?
Satnam Singh: Each day is packed with purpose. I manage sales operations, which means a lot of meetings, client interactions, and strategising with the team. It’s a high-energy environment and demands precision and consistency.
What inspired you to choose sales as your career domain?
Satnam Singh: Sales is all about understanding people and offering solutions. Customer service has always been a strength of mine, and sales gave me a platform to sharpen that even further. It’s fulfilling to know I can make a direct impact on a customer’s experience.
How did your education at ASM prepare you for this journey?
Satnam Singh: Apeejay taught me discipline and focused work ethic. The environment at the institute helped me stay consistent, grounded, and goal-oriented. These qualities are the backbone of my performance even today.
What are the most critical skills a Deputy Manager at a major bank should possess?
Satnam Singh: I’d say strong communication, academic confidence, and a sound understanding of the banking and finance world. You need to be someone who can think on your feet, stay calm under pressure, and most importantly, lead by example.
What are your immediate professional goals?
Satnam Singh: I’m currently focused on achieving my next sales benchmarks and improving client satisfaction metrics. Growth is a continual process, and I am fully committed to excelling in the current role while preparing for greater responsibilities in the future.
Any message for current ASM students aspiring to enter the banking sector?
Satnam Singh: Stay disciplined, work on your people skills, and keep learning every single day. The banking industry is dynamic and fast-paced, but if you’re well-prepared, it rewards hard work like no other field.
