Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park alumnus Priyanshu Marandi shares how his love for design led him to architecture

By  Arijit Roy: For Priyanshu, the idea of becoming an architect wasn’t born overnight—it was shaped over time through a steady pull towards creativity. A 2024 graduate from Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, he is studying in one of India’s leading architecture institutes at Bhopal.

In this candid conversation, he opens up about his school days, the thrill and challenge of his first year in college, and what it truly takes to think like an architect.Read edited excerpts:

Now that you’ve completed your first year at School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal, how has your growth been so far?

It’s been a challenging but rewarding journey. The first year is tough—you have to do a lot of modelling work and design assignments. It really pushes your creativity and time management skills.

Have you learned hands-on modelling?

Yes, both individual and group projects. It’s a key part of learning in architecture, and I really enjoy it.

What are your future plans after completing B.Arch?

I plan to pursue a Master’s in Architecture Planning and continue working in this field. I’m quite focused on developing my skills and exploring architectural design deeply.

What do you think are some essential traits for a good architect?

From what I’ve learned so far—communication skills and out-of-the-box thinking are crucial. You have to collaborate a lot and present your ideas clearly. Creativity, of course, is at the heart of it all.

 What’s life like at SPA Bhopal’s campus?

It’s a beautiful campus with a lot of greenery. The professors are supportive and push us to do our best. The overall atmosphere is great for growth.

Lastly, what advice would you give to students at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park who want to pursue architecture?

Focus on your academics, but also start building a design sense. Sketching and art are the foundations of architecture. If you’re interested in this field, nurture your creativity from early on.
