After graduating from Apeejay School, I moved to Canada after completing my post-graduation in Delhi. The decision to move to Canada was to pursue new opportunities in a better environment.

Initially, I focused on adapting to my new environment, gaining valuable work experience in customer service and operations at Union Station Bus Terminal.

This laid the foundation for my career in property management, where I started by managing two properties of my own and later expanded into managing contracts for other landlords.

What challenges did you face while settling in Canada?

Settling in Canada came with its share of challenges, including adjusting to a new culture, building a professional network, and understanding local business practices. I overcame these by staying resilient, continuously learning, and leveraging my skills from previous experiences to seize opportunities.

What made you decide to choose a property management career for yourself?

I was drawn to property management because it combines customer service, organisation, and problem-solving skills. Managing Airbnb properties allowed me to directly impact guest experiences while building a sustainable business model.

What are some of your fondest memories from your school days?

Some of my fondest memories include participating in school events, picnics, and educational trips to different cities of India with classmates. The school’s vibrant culture fostered a sense of curiosity and teamwork that stays with me to this day.

Did any school activities or events play a role in shaping your skills or career aspirations?

Absolutely! Events like Inter-house competitions, leadership roles in organising school programs, and public speaking opportunities helped develop my communication and organisational skills. These experiences instilled confidence and a proactive mindset, which are vital in my career today.

What role does technology play in your work as a property manager?

Technology is pivotal in property management. From using platforms like Airbnb to managing bookings to employing automation tools for scheduling and customer communication, technology ensures efficiency and enhances guest satisfaction.

Are there any lessons you learned at school that resonate with you?

The lessons of discipline, teamwork, and continuous learning have stayed with me throughout my journey. These core values have been instrumental in overcoming challenges and driving the growth of my business.

Do you have plans to expand your property management business beyond Canada?

Expanding internationally is certainly on my radar. However, my focus right now is on solidifying operations in Canada and building a strong reputation. Once I achieve that, exploring other markets will be the next step.

What advice would you like to give to present Apeejay School students?

Stay curious and embrace every opportunity to learn. The skills and relationships you develop now will shape your future. Never shy away from challenges, as they are the best teachers, and always believe in your ability to adapt and succeed.
