Garima Arora is an Indian chef. She became the first Indian women to became the Michelin star in 2018. Michelin star is a benchmark of a chef’s achievement.

She is the owner of the restaurant named Gaa. It is located in Bangkok, Thailand. Gaa serves India-Thai cuisine. She is the first female judge in upcoming cooking show Master chef India.

Garima Arora is an Indian chef who has made waves in the culinary world. She has already achieved much in her brief career, including earning a Michelin Star at the age of 30 and becoming the very first Indian female to receive one.

She was born on 9th November 1986 Anil Arora & Neetu Arora in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Nauroze Arora is her brother. From a very young age, she was interested in cooking and would often help her mother in the kitchen.

She is from Punjabi Arora heritage. She is born and grew up in Mumbai. She pursed bachelor of Mass Media in Journalism from University of Mumbai.

After graduation, Garima worked at several restaurants in India and abroad, including The Oberoi hotel chain and Gaggan, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Bangkok.

Then she became the head chef of Gaggan Anand’s new restaurant, Gaggan Anand Mumbai. Afterthat, she was awarded a Michelin star for her work at the restaurant.

In 2008, she left for France. There she pursed a grand diploma in cuisine & patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. That is a cooking school at Paris.

Initially, she pursed a career in journalism before becoming a chef. She worked as a journalist for six months before she chooses a career in culinary arts & took her cooking skill to a new level.

Her husband is a pilot for Jet Airways in Mumbai. Later, she worked with Chef Gaggan Anand, Gordon Ramsay and René Redzepi of Noma in Copenhagen before opening her own restaurant, Gaa, in Bangkok in April 2017.

Gaa is a three-story restaurant that celebrates a modern tasting menu with traditional Indian techniques. Arora & her restaurant Gaa were awarded with a Michelin star award in November 2018.

She is the first Indian female chef to receive the distinction. Her restaurant Gaa made its debut on the Asia’s 50 Best restaurant list at No.16 in 2019.

They claimed the Highest New Entry Award. Again in February 2019, she was named Asia’s Best Female Chef for the year by World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Again in June 2019, her restaurant Gaa made its debut on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Arora launched Food Forward India, an initiative prioritizing the future of Indian food in August 2019.

The inaugural event was done on 17th October 2019 in Mumbai. That brought together Mumbai’s brightest minds in the Indian food community to engage in a day filled with talks, food tastings and panel discussions.

Garima is currently one of the most acclaimed chefs in India. She has been featured in several magazines and television shows, and her work has earned her international recognition.

Garima Arora’s Signature Dishes

Known for her innovative and modern take on Indian cuisine, Garima Arora’s signature dishes are often a fusion of traditional Indian flavors with Western culinary techniques.

Some of her most popular dishes include her tandoori chicken with foie gras and truffle oil, her paneer tart with date chutney, and her lentil soup with coconut milk and cumin.
