What inspired you to focus on digitization, technology, and AI for business growth?

Gyan Gupta: Inspiration primarily comes from the potential that these domains have to offer and the transformative impact that can be created by them on business, societies.

The possibilities to solve problems democratize access to the services, drive economic growth in the larger scheme of things.

Being an engineer, cutting edge technology like AI and now generative AI will always inspire me. The ability to solve problems at scale with accessibility and affordability will always be an inspiration for me.

Can you shed light on your journey in the digital business world over the past 22+ years?

Gyan Gupta: My journey to the digital business world has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. It has been an exciting journey of learning, growth and evolution.

While my initiation was in the technology domain at Genpact, I proceeded ahead to the digital content vertical.

Throughout my career journey I have been at the cusp of technology and content, like in Genpact I was driving the E learning, in Dainik Bhaskar which was a completely different use case of content and technology in media dovetailing into my two startups, Chamko and First Wall.

All these milestones in the journey reflect my commitment to the digital platforms that foster learning, content creation and talent recognition.

Now at Bada Business we are enabling the larger entrepreneur ecosystem driving India to a five trillion dollar economy.

What do you believe are the key factors that contribute to business success in the digital landscape?

Gyan Gupta: The key factor that contributes to the success of a business is firstly to understand your customers’ needs and preferences.

Staying closer to the consumers ensures that you don’t miss out on the finer details. Further innovation in product development and service delivery is very critical, businesses have to keep innovating constantly and then delivering because innovation has to be supported by execution and service delivery to complete the cycle.

Thirdly it is very vital to leverage the data and AI to improve customer experience, personalize the experience and make your strategic decisions in this digital era.

What are some of the challenges and opportunities you’ve encountered in your journey?

Gyan Gupta: Challenges and opportunities are like two sides of the same coin, one leads you to the other. Biggest challenge in today’s time is staying ahead in this rapidly paced technology changing scenario.

One needs to keep evolving, from when I started my journey to now things have metamorphosed into generative AI now.

The challenge to stay on top of the technology curve is a huge one but it is also the one that leads you to the opportunity to innovate and grow.

It leads you to create products that resonate with your diverse user base especially in a multilingual country like ours.

In my journey of working with AI for nine years, I have witnessed in the start that there was no algorithm that could work with Hindi content which made us create our own dictionary. So as I said opportunity preceded by challenge was only fueling our growth.

What unique strategies do you employ to stand out as a product evangelist?

Gyan Gupta: The unique strategy as a product evangelist which I practice entails combining logic which is the technology, design, product experience to create solutions that are technically sound, user friendly and market fit.

Having all of these building blocks means you are technically good, customers love your products and there is a market fit.

There will have to be a lot of focus on iterative development incorporating user feedback at each and every stage and leveraging AI for personalization and automation.

How do you plan to stay ahead of the curve in the ever-changing digital landscape?

Gyan Gupta: This can’t be emphasized enough, that the key to staying ahead of the curve in this ever changing digital landscape is learning, learning and learning.

How much time are you taking out to continuously learn, I for one keep aside one hour everyday on learning the generative AI and creating some of the algorithms.

You have to be abreast with emerging trends, technology and customer behaviors. So creating a culture of innovation within the organization and the team and doing experiments with calculated risks is a sure shot way of staying ahead.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs and digital leaders who aim to make a significant impact in their respective industries?

Gyan Gupta: The most important trait is to be persistent and letting minor failures affect your drive to grow.

In this world you will fail and my advice is fail fast, don’t take too long to fail and be persistent with that, and also embrace it as a learning opportunity.

Stay close to the customer, stay customer centric because the creator and the consumer have to stay close to each other.

Invest your time in understanding users deeply; because it is not about chasing trends but about creating value. Lastly keep learning and evolving as the digital platform tends to transform and change constantly.
