An interview with Saurabh Bothra, CEO of Habuild, on Celebrating World Meditation Day with a World Record Virtual Meditation
In this interview, Saurabh Bothra, CEO of Habuild, shares his vision behind the first-ever World Meditation Day and their attempt to set a world record with the largest virtual meditation session.
He discusses the importance of mindfulness, the power of meditation in improving wellness, and how Habuild is leading this global movement to create lasting positive habits for individuals worldwide.
What inspired Habuild to organize the largest virtual meditation session, and how does this align with the vision of World Meditation Day?
Saurabh Bothra: We want meditation to be more than just a one-time event. It’s about making it a part of your daily life, a habit that sticks. Meditation is a powerful tool to navigate the chaos around us, but consistency is key. Without it, the benefits fade.
One day isn’t enough to truly show the power of building a habit, but we’re aiming for something bigger. By bringing thousands of people together for this event, we want to create a movement – a collective pledge to make meditation a non-negotiable part of our lives.
Imagine the impact if we all commit to it daily. That’s how we’ll create a ripple effect that spreads mindfulness and mental wellness far and wide.
Why do you believe meditation and mindfulness have become essential in today’s fast-paced lifestyle, and how does Habuild aim to address this through its platform?
Saurabh Bothra: The world around us is louder and faster than ever. There’s always something grabbing at our attention – a notification, a deadline, a headline. Our minds are constantly in overdrive, trying to keep up.
And here’s the kicker: most of it is completely out of our control, but it still drains us. That’s where stress, anxiety, and overwhelm start creeping in.
Meditation is like hitting a RESET button. It pulls you out of the chaos and brings you back to what matters – YOURSELF. It shifts your focus from the noise outside to the calm inside, from things you can’t control to what you can: your thoughts, your reactions, your peace of mind.
At Habuild, we don’t just teach meditation; we help you make it a habit so you can carry that reset button with you every single day.
For someone new to meditation, what practical tips would you suggest to help them get started and stay consistent in building this habit?
Saurabh Bothra: Start small. Instead of diving straight into long sessions, take gradual steps. If you want meditation to stick, don’t aim for 10 minutes on Day 1.
Sitting in silence can be tough. We’re so used to the constant hustle and noise of today’s world.
So, begin with just 2 minutes of meditation a day. Once you experience that small sense of accomplishment, it will give you the motivation to continue. And slowly, those 2 minutes will turn into a consistent habit that you look forward to each day.
How can meditation benefit children, and what role does it play in addressing stress and unaddressed trauma for both kids and adults?
Saurabh Bothra: For both kids and adults, meditation creates a safe space to process emotions and clear the mental clutter we all carry.
It builds emotional stability, fosters self-awareness, and helps us analyse our actions better. When someone becomes deeply aware of themselves, they’re better equipped to handle the world outside.
We often underestimate the stress children experience. Academic pressure, long hours of screen time, and packed schedules leave little room for moments of stillness.
These unaddressed stresses can build up over time, affecting their emotional and mental well-being. Meditation is a counterbalance to the digital noise, helping kids develop focus, patience, and mindfulness.
With India celebrating the First World Meditation Day, how does Habuild envision shaping the global conversation around mindfulness and mental well-being?
Saurabh Bothra: India, as the birthplace of meditation, holds a unique responsibility to lead the global conversation around mindfulness and mental well-being. Our rishis and sages practiced dhyan for centuries because they understood its profound benefits.
Yet today, the simple act of sitting in silence has become one of the hardest things for most of us. With our fast-paced lifestyles, constant notifications, and endless to-dos, our minds are more distracted and stressed than ever.
Issues like ADHD, anxiety, and even lifestyle diseases are on the rise, all exacerbated by this chaos. We want this and the next World Meditation Days to serve as a reminder to pause, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves. This day is a call to action to make meditation a part of daily life.
Habuild’s vision is simple yet profound: to normalise meditation as an everyday habit, not just an occasional activity. Whether it is yoga or meditation, we are all about consistency.
With every step and initiative we take in the future, we will make sure to address this vision and guide people to make mindfulness an integral part of their routines.
Saurabh Bothra’s insights highlight how Habuild is redefining wellness through innovative digital platforms.
Their World Meditation Day event is a monumental step in bringing people together for a collective experience, promoting mental clarity, and setting a new benchmark in the world of meditation.
