A 330 score in BITSAT is often considered a decisive benchmark for aspirants aiming for top engineering branches across BITS campuses. For Ishan Anirudha, a Pune-based student, crossing that mark in Session 2 of the exam resulted in Computer Science at BITS Goa, one of the most competitive programmes in the system.
The outcome marked a significant turnaround from BITSAT Session 1, where Ishan had scored 275 marks, a result that reflected strong conceptual grounding but fell short of computer science cutoffs.

What Changed Between Session 1 and Session 2

He joined the programme in the second week of June, leaving him with approximately two weeks to recalibrate his strategy before Session 2.

During this period, Ishan attempted multiple full-length BITSAT mock tests. His practice scores stabilised around 310, which he later found closely matched the structure and difficulty level of the actual Session 2 paper.
According to him, the relevance of the mock tests helped reduce uncertainty on exam day, allowing him to focus entirely on execution rather than adaptation.
Time Management Made the Difference
The improvement from 275 to 330 did not come from learning new concepts but from optimising how the exam was attempted.
Detailed performance analysis helped him identify:
- Time lost on difficult questions
- Imbalanced allocation across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
- Missed scoring opportunities due to delayed decision-making
By restructuring his approach, deciding in advance when to attempt, skip, or move on, Ishan improved both his attempt rate and accuracy, directly contributing to the final score of 330.
