The Income Tax Department of India has started a new income tax e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in on 7th June 2021. The new e-filing portal aims to facilitate taxpayers and provide a modern, seamless experience to taxpayers.
The new e-filing portal has various interesting features such as free software for filing ITR-1 and ITR-4, all interactions and uploads, or pending actions will be displayed on the same dashboard for follow-up action by the taxpayer and many more.
The new e-filing portal has changed a lot from page aesthetics to many other functions. There are now more options on the e-filing portal.

Form 26AS is a tax passbook containing the following information:
- Information related to the tax collected at the source;
- Source tax deductible information;
- Information regarding clear financial transactions (SFT);
- Demand and refund related information;
- Tax payment information;
- Information related to completed proceedings;
- Pending proceedings information;
Information obtained from any officer, authority or institution performing any act under any law or information obtained under any agreement specified under section 90 or section 90A or any other person to the extent deemed appropriate in the interest of revenue.
What is 26as form?
Form 26AS is a statement showing the amount of TDS or TCS deducted from the taxpayer’s various sources of income. It also includes information on taxpayer advance tax / self-assessment tax payments and high value transactions.
Form 26AS is a statement that shows: Form 26AS, a major income tax reporting form, contains various facts such as tax deductions or payments from various sources on taxpayers’ income.
It is a tax credit statement for the appraiser which includes TDS, TCS, advance tax or self-assessment tax paid, regular tax, tax refund received, data for assessment year, etc.
Foreign Transfers, Mutual Fund Purchases, Dividends, Refund Information and other items are now covered by Form 26as.
How to Download Form 26AS from Income Tax Portal: Step by Step Guide
In order to view or download the Form-26AS from e-Filing portal, Taxpayer need to perform the following steps:
Step 1: Go to ‘e-Filing’ Portal https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
Step 2: Go to the ‘My Account’ menu and login with user ID & Password
Step 3: Open ‘View Form 26AS link.
Step 4: click ‘Confirm’
Step 5: You will be redirected to TDS-CPC Portal.
Step 6: Agree the acceptance of usage. Click ‘Proceed’ in the TDS-CPC Portal.
Step 7: Click ‘View Tax Credit (Form 26AS)’
Step 8: Select the ‘Assessment Year’
Step 9: Chose ‘View type’ (HTML, Text or PDF)
Step 10: Form 26As will be displayed
Step 11: Click ‘View / Download’
