Apeejay School of Management alumnus reflects on his vibrant student life, career launch, and the soft skills that set him apart.

By Arijit Roy: A bright and articulate graduate from Apeejay School of Management, Dwarka, Priyanshu has recently stepped into the professional world as a Relationship Manager at ICICI Bank.

With a PGDM in Marketing and Operations, he credits his alma mater for shaping his confidence, polishing his communication skills, and giving him a taste of real-world business through industrial visits, seminars, and team activities. In this candid chat, he takes us back to his B-school days. Read edited excerpts:

What course did you pursue at ASM, and what drew you to it?

I pursued the PGDM course with Marketing as my major and Operations as my minor. I chose this combination because the private sector is expanding rapidly, and marketing plays a crucial role in it.

At ASM, we were also given a lot of practical exposure—like our visit to the Yakult factory, where we learned about their production and marketing processes. Plus, many of my seniors and friends had studied here and landed great placements, which inspired me.

What were some of the key takeaways from your PGDM journey?

One major milestone was getting placed at ICICI Bank in my very first interview. My confidence grew a lot; thanks to the mock interviews and internship processes we went through.

I also learned how to handle pressure, develop my communication skills, and improve my managerial mindset. Today, I’m no longer afraid of interviews.

Tell us about your faculty—how did they contribute to your learning?

The faculty at ASM was very helpful. Beyond just delivering the syllabus, they guided us in sharpening our soft skills. Their approach was practical and industry-relevant. Thanks to them, I could improve my management, communication, and teamwork abilities.

What was student life like on campus? Did you take part in co-curricular activities?

Absolutely! Life at ASM was vibrant. I took part in various indoor sports, conclaves, patent seminars, and events like Synergy. I’ve earned several certificates through these activities. These events taught me teamwork, leadership, and time management—skills that are helping me even today.

What advice would you offer to current students at ASM?

I’d tell them to work on their interview skills. I’ve noticed many students hesitate to even speak to teachers confidently, especially in English. My advice? Don’t be afraid. Speak up, be confident—that’s the key to success in the professional world.
