Indian Govt Launches Indian Business Portal For Small Indian Exporters
Updated 28 May 2022: The Indian government has recently launched the Indian Business Portal, an online gateway for small Indian exporters.
The portal is designed to provide easy access to information and services relevant to exporting and aims to help small businesses expand their reach into global markets.
It offers a range of features, including a business directory, trade leads, news and events, and export-related resources.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel launched the Indian Business Portal in New Delhi yesterday evening.
The portal will serve as an international trade hub for Indian exporters and foreign buyers. The portal is a business-to-business digital marketplace to empower small and medium-sized exporters, artisans and farmers to identify new markets for their products and increase their sales globally.
The launch of the Indian Business Portal comes at a time when the government is looking to promote export growth. In recent years, India’s exports have been growing at a steady rate, and the country is now among the world’s top 20 exporters.
However, there is still potential for further growth, and the government hopes that the new portal will help small businesses tap into this potential.
Speaking at the launch of the portal, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel said that it would play a key role in supporting India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy.
“The aim is to make it easier for our small businesses to export their goods and services to global markets,” she said. “We want to make sure that they have all the information and support they need to be successful in today’s competitive world.”
The Indian Business Portal has been developed by the Federation of Indian Export Organizations to provide business to Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) exporters, artisans and farmers and foreign buyers for a business marketplace on a single digital window, said Anupriya Patel.
Speaking after the launch of the portal, Anupriya Patel said that the portal would serve as an e-commerce marketplace to help Indian exporters gain global visibility.
She said it would address a number of factors that are part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and the government’s commitment to digitize exporters, support MSMEs and encourage more exports of Indian products.
The Minister said that despite the challenging times of the Covid-19 epidemic, various e-commerce platforms have shown immense potential to help millions of businesses to sustain themselves.
The Indian Business Portal is part of the government’s Digital India initiative, which is aimed at transforming India into a digitally-empowered society.
Other initiatives under this umbrella include the launch of a national e-commerce policy, and the setting up of a National Infrastructure and Investment Fund.
