IndiGo’s Biggest Ever New Station Launch At Goa’s Mopa International Airport; To Operate 168 Weekly Flights

December 16, 2022: 12 daily and a total of 168 weekly new flights to and from the New Goa International Airport at Mopa in North Goa from January 5 next year will be IndiGo’s largest new station ever and will connect the new facility to eight cities in India immediately.

The airline said in a statement. No-frills carrier IndiGo on Thursday announced that it will operate 168 weekly flights from New Goa International Airport to eight domestic destinations.

This will be the airline’s largest new station ever and will immediately connect Mopa International Airport in Goa with 8 cities across India.

The state’s second international airport will start commercial operations from January 5 next year. The existing airport at Dabolim in South Goa will remain active and IndiGo will continue its existing operations there, the airline said in a release.

12 daily and a total of 168 weekly new flights to and from the New Goa International Airport at Mopa in North Goa from January 5 will be IndiGo’s largest new station ever and will connect the new facility to eight cities in India immediately.

Apart from improving direct connectivity to the state, IndiGo is introducing these new flights to meet growing demand, the airline added.

“We are very excited to announce the launch of our largest ever new station with new direct connections from the New Goa International Airport at Mopa in North Goa.

To have such a grand opening at IndiGo is significant for us and speaks to our ambition and ability to provide the best possible connectivity to our customers and the nation,” said Peter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo.

Meanwhile, Goa’s newest airport will cost around Rs. 2,870 crores and built on the theme of sustainable infrastructure.

It has other facilities like solar power plant, green buildings, LED lights on the runway, rain water harvesting, state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant with recycling facility.

So far, two airlines – Oman Air and IndiGo have announced flight operations at Mopa airport. IndiGo has announced 12 daily and 168 weekly new flights to and from the new airport from January 05.
