A conversation with K Sambid Kumar, CEO and Founder at hitch zone
In this exclusive interview, we sit down with Mr. K Sambid Kumar, the visionary CEO and Founder of Hitch Zone.
With a passion for transforming the transportation landscape, Mr. Kumar shares his insights on the innovative solutions Hitch Zone offers and the challenges faced in the ever-evolving mobility sector.
How does your technology fundamentally transform or simplify traditional financial processes?
K Sambid Kumar: At Hitch, we demystify finance by eliminating unnecessary complexity. Our technology streamlines cumbersome manual tasks like documentation, verification, and KYC procedures, reducing what previously took hours into mere minutes.
We aim to make financial management approachable—akin to chatting with a friend rather than deciphering intricate spreadsheets.
For users, this translates into faster decision-making, improved accessibility, and a considerable reduction in the “waiting game.”
What challenges have you encountered in scaling Hitch, and how have you addressed them?
K Sambid Kumar: Scaling Hitch presented formidable obstacles—the typical growth hurdles like recruiting top talent, maintaining a balance between efficiency and security, and fostering trust within a skeptical market.
We confronted these challenges by prioritizing our customers’ needs, focusing intensively on user experience (UX), and cultivating strategic partnerships aligned with our long-term vision. Our approach hinged on incremental progress rather than chasing fleeting triumphs.
Are there plans to expand Hitch’s services beyond the current offerings, perhaps into new financial products or markets?
K Sambid Kumar: Absolutely. Hitch is designed with a vision far beyond its current scope. We are actively delving into innovative credit solutions, tools for financial well-being, and incorporating regional language support.
The long-term goal is embedded finance tailored specifically for Bharat—seamless, user-centric, and inclusive. We envision becoming a comprehensive platform that meets individuals at their point of need rather than conforming to industry expectations.
How are you solving for Tier II and Tier III user onboarding challenges—especially digital literacy and trust?
K Sambid Kumar: Empathy lies at the heart of our solution. Hitch was crafted with a mobile-first approach, complemented by vernacular language support, intuitive voice prompts, and streamlined processes.
Our network of local agents serves as the crucial bridge between technology and trust, embodying the human element that users can rely on.
In Bharat, trust often begins offline before migrating to online platforms—this foundational principle drives our strategy.
What’s one policy change you wish regulators would introduce to accelerate fintech innovation?
K Sambid Kumar: Introducing a regulatory sandbox for vernacular-focused, low-ticket fintech offerings would revolutionize the landscape.
Such a framework would empower innovators to test, refine, and scale products more swiftly—particularly in underserved regions.
Innovation shouldn’t be constrained by bureaucratic delays; with suitable safeguards in place, the next breakthrough in fintech could arise from a small-town initiative, not just metropolitan startup hubs.
What has been your most challenging founder moment in fintech so far—and how did you overcome it?
K Sambid Kumar: The most daunting moment was when a key partner withdrew unexpectedly. It left us grappling with limited funding, heightened anxiety among the team, and the need for an immediate pivot.
Amid the turbulence, clarity emerged—we concentrated on aspects within our control: refining the product, leveraging customer insights, and executing lean strategies.
That crisis proved transformative, teaching us that resilience isn’t just desirable—it’s integral to the startup ethos.
As we conclude our conversation, Mr. K Sambid Kumar’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and sustainability shines through, inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs in the transportation industry.
