Ahmedabad–11/07/2023: Kaka-Ba Hospital, the charitable hospital run by Cadila Pharmaceuticals, has achieved a remarkable feat.
The hospital’s medical team successfully removed a staggering 630 gallstones from a patient suffering from sickle cell disease, thereby restoring their health and significantly improving his quality of life.
The patient was experiencing obstructive jaundice, a condition caused by blocked bile flow due to the presence of numerous gallstones.
Recognising the urgent need for intervention, the team at Kaka-Ba Hospital utilized its expertise and cutting-edge medical technology to perform an Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with stent placement.
It was followed by a laparoscopic cholecystectomy to remove the gallbladder. The surgery ensured the successful removal of the gallstones and restored normal bile flow.

As most of the tests of the patient were conducted in Surat, Kaka-Ba Hospital bore the costs. The operation and post-operative care were taken care of under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ensuring that the patient received the necessary care without any financial burden.
