An Exclusive Interview with Mr. Kausthub Kaundinya, CEO, Co-founder of Jarsh Safety
In this insightful interview, we speak with Mr. Kausthub Kaundinya, CEO and Co-founder of Jarsh Safety, a pioneering company dedicated to enhancing workplace safety through innovative solutions.
Kausthub shares his journey, the inspiration behind Jarsh Safety, and the critical role technology plays in creating safer environments for workers across various industries.
What inspired the creation of India’s first AC helmet, and how did that shape Jarsh’s mission?
Kausthub Kaundinya: Initially, our approach was more of an engineering challenge than a problem-solution strategy. Sreekanth, Anand, and I aimed to create a lightweight, portable, and battery-powered air conditioner.
Helmets were the most obvious choice to accommodate the AC, given the common perception of helmets (of all types) as uncomfortable. However, once we designed the industrial AC hard hat, we gained a profound understanding of the Industrial Safety Segment.
Most products in this segment are decades old, and helmets have remained largely unchanged over time, just like other safety products.
Therefore, we embarked on a mission to modernise safety equipment by incorporating technology that can track hazards, identify safety procedures violations, provide early warnings, and significantly reduce the risk of accidents.
We hold the belief that, with time, technology will be able to predict every accident before it occurs, thereby eliminating the need for personal protective equipment (PPE) and consequently reducing fatalities and disabilities on industrial worksites.
How is Jarsh redefining industrial safety with smart, proactive technologies like SmartVolt and Kavach Harness?
Kausthub Kaundinya: Traditional safety gear is reactive, it protects only after an accident begins. Jarsh is flipping that model.
Our innovations like SmartVolt (which detects live voltage and warns the user) and Kavach ( detects falls, and sends real-time alerts) are designed to prevent incidents before they occur.
We’re embedding intelligence into PPE, making it not just a barrier but a guardian. It’s proactive safety, powered by real-time data, automation, and worker-centric design.
What industries and worker challenges are you most focused on solving with your smart PPE solutions?
Kausthub Kaundinya: Our focus is on sectors where the first accident can be the last, Discoms, mining, power utilities, oil & gas, manufacturing, and defense. Heat stress, electrocution, and fall hazards are everyday threats for these workers.
Our smart PPE tackles exactly these issues, cooling the body, alerting workers near danger zones, and monitoring harness stress in real-time. We’re not chasing trends, we’re solving the toughest, most life-threatening problems that workers face on the ground every day.
With 30,000+ lives already protected, how are you scaling operations and technology to reach your 2030 goal?
Kausthub Kaundinya: Protecting over 30,000 workers is a significant achievement, yet our vision extends far beyond, we aim to safeguard 1 million lives by 2030. To realize this ambitious goal, we are scaling operations strategically across three key areas.
Firstly, on the product front, we are optimizing for mass manufacturing with modular designs, enabling our technology to cater to a wider range of price points and accessibility.
Secondly, we are forging strong partnerships with governments, EPC contractors, and global safety integrators to integrate our PPE solutions into large-scale projects seamlessly.
Lastly, we are advancing technology by developing a connected ecosystem where devices such as helmets, harnesses, and SmartVolt communicate in real time, delivering actionable insights to safety officers and enhancing on-site protection.
This multifaceted approach ensures we not only scale rapidly but also maintain the highest standards of worker safety across diverse environments.
What are Jarsh’s key strategic plans for global expansion, product innovation, and establishing its manufacturing footprint in the coming years?
Kausthub Kaundinya: We’re already present in the Middle East through our Sharjah subsidiary, and we’re actively expanding into Africa and Southeast Asia.
On the innovation side, we’re doubling down on AI-powered safety intelligence, wearables that don’t just collect data, but interpret and act on it instantly.
Manufacturing-wise, we’re setting up high-efficiency micro-factories in India and the UAE to meet growing demand while maintaining quality. Our north star: to make safety smart, scalable, and accessible for every worker on the planet.
As we wrap up our conversation with Mr. Kausthub Kaundinya, his passion for safety and innovation is evident.
With Jarsh Safety at the forefront of industry advancements, Kausthub’s vision continues to shape the future of workplace safety, ensuring that employees can thrive in secure environments while fostering a culture of safety across all sectors.
