Ketan Paliwal

This alumnus of Apeejay School of Management shares how his alma mater’s rigorous training helped him secure a job offer from ICICI Bank

Written by Arijit Roy: Securing a job in today’s competitive landscape requires more than just good grades. It’s about preparation, personality, and presence. In conversation with Ketan Paliwal, PGDM alum of Apeejay School of Management, we uncover how the placement process helped refine his career readiness.

With a blend of faculty mentorship, practical training, and personal perseverance, Ketan is now geared up to serve as a Relationship Manager at ICICI Bank.

Ketan, how did ASM prepare you for the placement process?

ASM played a crucial role. Our mentors regularly held classes to guide us on cracking interviews, preparing resumes, and handling real-time interview questions. They focused on every step—from group discussions to resume building—and it gave me a lot of clarity.

What was the selection process like for ICICI Bank?

For my placement, there was only one round—a personal interview (PI). But generally, other companies had multiple rounds like aptitude tests, followed by group discussions, and then the final PI round. It really depended on the recruiter.

What responsibilities will you handle as a Relationship Manager?

As a Relationship Manager, my focus will be on understanding customer needs and offering the right banking products. If customers face issues while using any services, it’ll be my job to resolve them effectively and ensure a smooth experience.

What advice would you like to share with the upcoming batch at ASM?

Two key things: give serious attention to internships, as companies often assess the quality of your internship experience. Secondly, work on your communication skills—it makes a big difference during interviews and gives you the confidence to present yourself well.

How will you apply your classroom learnings in your professional role?

The practical sessions at ASM, like problem-solving classes, exposure to AI tools, and real-world case studies, have given me a good foundation. I plan to apply those learnings in customer interactions and while managing challenges in my banking role.

What’s your biggest takeaway from your ASM journey?

My biggest takeaway would be the mentorship and exposure to real-world business scenarios. The training didn’t just teach us theory—it prepared us to be job-ready professionals. I feel confident stepping into the industry with the knowledge ASM gave me.
