What inspired you to write Love, It Was Never Meant for Me?
Kulbhushan Chaudhary: The inspiration behind Love, It Was Never Meant For Me comes from the whirlwind of emotions I’ve felt through six unforgettable love stories.
It’s a journey filled with joy, heartbreak, betrayal, and self-discovery—a narrative about a man who loved deeply, gave selflessly, and often found himself wandering through a maze of feelings.
More than anything, this book is a heartfelt tribute to my wife, my soulmate, and the mother of my son—the woman I continue to love profoundly, despite the separate paths we’ve had to take.
Each chapter of this tale showcases a different facet of love, from the innocence of youthful affection to the intense passion of adult relationships, and the quiet pain of heartbreaks that seemed insurmountable.
These six love stories were not merely about romantic encounters; they were lessons—some beautiful, some painful—that have shaped who I am today. Through these experiences, I discovered parts of myself, and while they left me feeling shattered, they also instilled in me the strength to believe in love once more.
Above all, this book is dedicated to my wife. She gifted me the most precious thing in my life, our son, and although our love story didn’t conclude as I had hoped, my love for her is everlasting. Writing this book was my way of honouring that love and cherishing the memories that still bring both joy and sorrow to my heart.
Love, It Was Never Meant for Me is more than just a memoir; it’s a tribute to the resilience of the heart and a reminder that love, with all its flaws, is the most beautiful story we will ever experience.
Through the pages, I hope to resonate with anyone who has loved, lost, and dared to love again—because even amidst heartbreak, love remains the greatest gift of all.
Can you share a little about the main themes of the book
Kulbhushan Chaudhary: Love, It Was Never Meant for Me is a poignant exploration of self-discovery, love, and grief. It illustrates the beauty and frailty of human relationships through six love stories, showcasing love in all of its manifestations—innocence, passion, heartbreak, and healing.
Even though heartbreak is the central theme, the story is ultimately about resilience, growth, and finding strength in vulnerability.
The novel is really a love letter to my wife, who gave me our kid, the greatest gift of all. Our story’s imperfect conclusion serves as a reminder that true love is not limited by time or place.
The book’s main themes also include forgiveness, hope, and the purest nature of love as an act of self-less giving. It emphasizes how powerful it is to let go of past hurts and embrace the healing that comes with forgiveness, for both oneself and others.
The story reminds readers that love, despite its imperfections and challenges, is always worth pursuing. Rebuilding, healing, and moving on are always possible, even in the wake of loss, heartache, or betrayal.
It’s a message of resilience, emphasizing how love has the capacity to change us and make us stronger and more compassionate with each experience.
Do you believe love, as portrayed in your book, is more about destiny or choice?
Kulbhushan Chaudhary: In my experience, and as reflected in the book, love feels like a dance between destiny and choice.
Each of the six love tales in the book has “meant to be” moments, indicating the significance of destiny.
Love often feels like the universe pushing you in the direction of something bigger, even when the chances don’t seem to be in your favor, whether it’s meeting someone at the ideal moment or experiencing an incredible connection.
Love is not just about destined moments; it’s also about how we respond to them. It’s about choosing to give it your best, even at the risk of heartbreak, to forgive, to persevere, and to believe in love even when it seems to be evaporating.
It requires finding a balance between action and surrender, choosing to fight for what truly matters while also accepting vulnerability.
This delicate interplay is what makes love so profoundly beautiful and, at the same time, so heartbreakingly unpredictable.
What message do you hope readers take away from your book?
Kulbhushan Chaudhary: The message I hope readers take away is that love, despite its flaws, remains the most transformational and beautiful experience we can have.
Even if it hurts or does not last, it teaches us essential things about ourselves and the world around us. Heartbreak is not the end of the story; it is simply a part of it. It’s fine to fall, get hurt, and feel lost because those experiences shape who we are.
Love is about giving without expecting anything in return, embracing vulnerability, and finding strength in the face of adversity.
Love doesn’t always have a happy ending, but it doesn’t reduce its significance. True love transcends circumstances and endures even when life takes a different path.
Most importantly, I want readers to have hope. No matter how many times love seems to fail, it is still worth believing in.
Love is not about perfection; it is about the journey, the lessons learned, and the fortitude to keep opening your heart each time whenever love arrives.
Is there a particular scene or chapter that was especially meaningful for you to write?
Kulbhushan Chaudhary: Yes, there’s a particular chapter in Love, It Was Never Meant for Me that holds a very special place in my heart—it’s the chapter about my wife and the journey we shared.
Writing it was both cathartic and heart-wrenching because it wasn’t just about reliving the moments of love and joy but also coming to terms with the heartbreak of losing her.
The scene where I first held our son in my arms is perhaps the most meaningful for me. It was a moment of pure magic—like the entire world had paused, and everything I had ever been through suddenly made sense.
That moment wasn’t just about the joy of becoming a father; it was also about seeing the love we had created, embodied in the most beautiful gift life could offer.
But juxtaposed with that joy is the pain of the moments when our paths began to diverge. Writing about our separation was incredibly difficult because it meant confronting the reality of losing someone I still love so deeply.
Yet, those pages are infused with gratitude because, no matter how it ended, what we shared was real, and it gave me memories I will cherish forever.
That chapter is the soul of the book—it’s a testament to the power of love that shapes us, even when it breaks us.
It reminded me that love isn’t about holding on; it’s about appreciating what was, forgiving what couldn’t be, and finding peace in the beauty of what remains. For me, it’s the heartbeat of the entire story.
Will we see more books from you in the future, and do you plan to explore similar themes?
Kulbhushan Chaudhary: Writing Love, It Was Never Meant for Me has been an extremely rewarding experience, and I have no plans to stop here. There are still many untold stories and emotions that need to be explored.
I aim to continue delving into the nuances of love in all of its forms—romantic, familial, self-love, and friendship—because these universal emotions resonate deeply. Along with love, I’d like to explore the themes of personal growth, self-discovery, and resilience.
After experiencing my own struggles, I feel there is value in sharing stories of parenting, forgiveness, and overcoming adversity, even through a fictionalized lens. My work will always be honest, heartfelt, and based on true feelings, regardless of the subject matter.
My goal is to write stories that touch hearts, spark contemplation, and remind readers that even in the most difficult circumstances of life, there is beauty and hope to be found.
As our conversation with Kulbhushan Chaudhary comes to a close, his insights into love and loss leave a lasting impression. “Love, It Was Never Meant For Me” not only captivates readers but also encourages them to reflect on their own experiences.
Kulbhushan’s journey as an author is just beginning, and we eagerly anticipate his future works that promise to explore the intricacies of the human heart even further.
