Luxury car sales are booming in India, Lamborghini Was Sold Out; Sales of Audi and Porsche are Increasing In India

Luxury car sales are booming in India, as seen by the announcement of record sales for 2022 by Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus.

These businesses further predict that in the upcoming years, these record numbers will increase.
For the year, Lamborghini was sold out.

In a significant accomplishment, Lamborghini announced that it has already sold out of all models for the year in India.

The Urus is the entry-level Lamborghini model in India, costing Rs 3.15 crore, while the Aventador, which costs Rs 9 crore, is the most costly model.

According to The Times of India, the business stated that it hoped to sell over 100 cars in 2023, and the majority of them had already been ordered (TOI).

Francesco Scardaoni, head of Lamborghini’s Asia-Pacific region, told TOI, “We are already sold out for the year as far as deliveries for 2023.”

According to Scardaoni, the need for ultra-high net worth individuals (UHINs) and businesspeople has increased, which has caused a surge in the purchasing of luxury cars as Covid’s global influence lessens.

“Yes. When asked if it’s proving to be a “golden moment” for the super-luxury carmakers, he replied, “Looks like anything we do, sells pretty good.

The company, which was among the fastest-growing globally, reported record sales in India in 2022 with 90 automobiles, a jump of 30% from the previous year’s sales. In China, 1,000 Lamborghini vehicles were sold in 2022.

The last record-breaking sale for the nation was 69 units in 2021. Prior to that, 52 units in total had been sold in 2019.

“More are being purchased. In our line of work, an order book typically spans more than 18 months. ye.commastmastmastmastmastmas, and Currently, we are selling (for) 2024. In talking to TOI on the trend for Lamborghini globally, Scardaoni remarked, “And what impresses us is that the daily order book stays so high.

Scardaoni also voiced his reservations regarding India’s high import duties and insufficient road infrastructure. “…the country’s (road) infrastructure is still not all set up to drive a super sports car safely everywhere.

In contrast, China’s roads are excellent and its cities are all well connected. You can fully commit to that,” he told TOI.

Audi India aims to increase sales by more than three times in two years.

According to Andre Konsbruck, VP of sales overseas at Audi AG, the India division of the German automaker Audi AG has set a goal to more than triple its sales volumes over the next two years, supported by multiple launches, better semiconductor availability, and a strong demand for luxury cars in the nation.

Speaking to Economic Times, Konsbruck predicted that over the following ten years, the market for luxury cars in India will reach 100,000 units.

If the market is solid and the economy continues to grow, we will produce at least 14,000 units in India during the next couple of years, Konsbruck said. Audi India produced 4,187 units in 2022, a 27% increase in sales over the previous year.

Porsche India has its best-ever sales year and sees a surge of 64%.

Porsche India Private Limited, a division of the Volkswagen Group India and the German automaker Porsche, had already stated last month that 2022 was its strongest year for sales in the nation.

Porsche India sold 779 units in total in 2022 compared to 474 in 2021, a 64 percent increase. The premium automobile manufacturer sold 309,884 units globally in 2022, a 3% rise from 2021’s sales.

The company added that the sales include 78 units of its all-new electric Tycan (introduced in December 2021) in the 12 months.

According to Manolito Vujicic, Brand Director of Porsche India, “it has been a strong year for Porsche India with a 69 percent growth in the sales of our SUV models, highlighted by our top-selling model, the Cayenne, ending the year with 399 retail units.”

He continued by saying the strong result demonstrates the upward trajectory that started in 2021 was maintained through 2022.
