An Exclusive Interview with Shri Mahavir Goel, Chairman of Venkateshwar International School, one of Delhi’s leading institutions known for its balanced and future-forward approach to education

Shri Mahavir Goel, Chairman of Venkateshwar International School, leads one of Delhi’s premier institutions celebrated for its balanced and future-forward approach to education.

In this interview, he shares his vision, values, and strategies that empower students to excel academically while nurturing essential life skills.

Can you share the vision and mission of Venkateshwar International School and how it shapes the educational experience for students?

Mahavir Goel: We at Venkateshwar International School harbor the vision of creating a center of academic excellence and character development that nurtures confident, responsible, and compassionate global citizens with deep roots in personalized growth.

We aspire to inculcate a culture where leadership, inclusivity, and self-belief thrive, and at the same time instill values and global awareness to make the students future-ready.

To achieve the goal, we diligently work towards the mission of delivering strong academics through student-centric, innovative methods and devise co-curricular programs in arts, sports, life skills, and community service.

What innovative teaching methods or programmes have you implemented to ensure a balanced and future-forward approach to education?

Mahavir Goel: Being deeply invested in the future of the students, we continuously upgrade our teaching pedagogy and create an innovative and forward-thinking curriculum to ensure children are always abreast of the latest development.

There is incessant focus on real-world relevance, interdisciplinary learning, and critical thinking. While the entire teaching methodology pivots on personalized learning, we employ project-based learning and inquiry-driven assignments to maximize the output of the learning.

In the process, proper attention is given to each student, where it is ensured that the curriculum is in alignment with the pace, interests, and strengths of every individual.

To further enhance their holistic development, we also give them exposure to disciplines like robotics, coding, arts, and public speaking.

Our innovative teaching methods also involve tech-empowered learning that supports smart classrooms and tech-enabled labs to steer digital fluency. Here, students are encouraged to engage with tools that enhance creativity and problem-solving.

At the same time, exhibiting a holistic infrastructure, Venkateshwar International School promotes collaborative zones, performing arts spaces, and expansive sports facilities. Altogether, the entire methodology is designed with the aim of boosting experiential learning among students.

How does Venkateshwar International School integrate technology into the classroom, and what impact has it had on student learning?

Mahavir Goel: Technology at VIS is seamlessly embedded in daily learning through digital boards, interactive simulations, blended platforms, and online research tools. Classrooms are designed as Tech Zones where students engage, collaborate, and innovate.

The school is well equipped with an Atal Tinkering Lab, three computer labs, 3D activity hubs, smartboard-enabled classrooms, and virtual reality resources.

INNO INSPIRE, our student-led technology society, trains peers in robotics and coding using a variety of programming software, and organises fests and workshops. Artificial Intelligence is included in the curriculum from Classes VI to XII.

Programmes like SheCode, which encourage girls to explore coding, and our Online Coding Bootcamp in robotics, app development, and cyber security, give students hands-on experience in digital skills.

Added to this, the Annual Night Long Global Connect offers real-world exposure. This helps our learners grow in confidence, think creatively, and navigate the digital world with ease.

How does the school promote holistic development, including extracurricular activities, mental health and emotional well-being?

Mahavir Goel: We provide opportunities beyond the classroom, helping students explore diverse interests and develop their potential. Through activities that focus on emotions and relationships, children learn to bounce back and care for others.

By prioritising counselling and well-being, we create a space where students can thrive both in their studies and in their personal growth. In doing so, we nurture individuals who will build the new Bharat with integrity and innovation, while also becoming torchbearers of our rich legacy across the globe.

Our students are encouraged to take pride in their roots, carry forward timeless values, and combine them with modern skills to shape a brighter future for themselves and for the world.

How does Venkateshwar International School engage with parents and the community to support student growth and development?

Mahavir Goel: We see the education community and parents as partners in a child’s growth. That’s why we involve parents at every step, through workshops, open forums, and interactive sessions that let them connect, share and stay part of their child’s learning journey. At the same time, our students are encouraged to step outside the classroom.

With our outreach activities, student clubs, and social projects, students get an idea about real-world experiences.

They see firsthand how they can make a difference, learn to work together, and understand the importance of kindness and service. These experiences shape them into people who care, take responsibility, and grow beyond just academics.

How do you ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and adaptable to the changing needs of society and the economy?

Mahavir Goel: We are determined to create a healthy environment for students. While we follow the CBSE guidelines, we go beyond the textbook to make education come alive.

We use hands-on projects, team up with schools around the world, and focus on practical skills to prepare students for what’s next.

Along with academics, we emphasise values and life skills that shape well-rounded individuals and create successful stories.

Our teachers are lifelong learners themselves, always training and listening to what students and parents have to say.

That way, we ensure our students not only get a great education but also build the confidence to succeed in college and beyond.

What advice would you give to aspiring educators who wish to adopt a balanced and innovative approach to teaching?

Mahavir Goel: Teaching today requires both conviction and openness. My advice to aspiring educators is to keep learning themselves.

Our approach is to foster curiosity, encourage open dialogue, and always link theory to practice. It’s important to us that we balance academic rigour with empathy, and that innovation is always inclusive.

More than anything, we believe education goes beyond simply sharing knowledge; it’s about inspiring students to discover their potential and make a meaningful impact on the world.

With a focus on innovation and holistic growth, Shri Mahavir Goel continues to inspire a generation of learners, shaping an educational legacy built on excellence and integrity.
