Meenakshi Seshadri is a former actress from Indian cinema. She is model, dancer and actress from Hindi, Tamil & Telugu films.
In 1981, at the age of 17, she received the Eve’s weekly Miss India crown. In 1981, she represented India at Miss International held in Tokyo, Japan.
Meenakshi Seshadri is a trained dancer in four Indian classical forms – Bharat Natyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak & Odissi. She was trained under tutelage of Vempati Chinna Satyam & Jaya Rama Rao.
In 1983, she made her film debute in Telugu/Hindi film Painter Babu with Rajeev Goswami, brother of Manoj kumar. In the same year she received wider recognition with the Hindi film Hero opposite Jackie Shroff.
Meenakshi Seshadri became one of the leading actresses during1980s & 1990s. She became popular for her films like Hero, Meri Jung, Shahenshah, Swati, Ghayal, Damini, Ghatak and many more.
For Swati, Dahleez, Satyamev Jayate, Awargi & Damini she received critical acclaim. She was one of the performers in 1990s Khajuraho Dance Festival.

Meenakshi Seshadri was born on 16th November 1963 in a Tamil Brahmin family in Sindri, Jharkhand, India. Her real name was Shashikala Sheshadri.
She was called Sherry by her loved ones. Her father worked at Sindri Fertiliser plant & her mother was a homemaker.
Personal life of Meenakshi Seshadri
After marrying an investment banker Harish Mysore in 1995, she retired from cinema. The couple have two children a daughter & a son.
Recently she lives in Plano, Texas. She runs the Cherish Dance School there. She is having coaching for Bharat Natyam, Kathak & Odissi. There is a documentary made on her life named ‘Meenakshi Accept Her Wings’.

After a flop film Painter Babu she became an overnight star from a blockbuster film Hero against Jackie Shroff. Immediately after the success of Hero she act against Rajesh Khanna in Awara Baap in double role.
Meri Jung was her one of the highest grossing film in the year 1985. Meenakshi Seshadri did a special appearance song with a Tamil Cinema actor, Rajinikanth in a Telugu movie Jeevana Poratam.
During 1980s & 1990s she acted in many films like Swati, Dahleez, Allah Rakha, Inaam Dus Hazaar, Dacait, Parivaar, Vijay, Shahenshah, Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswati, Mr. India and many more. She had her best & most successful pairing, & best on screen chemistry with Anil Kapoor.
Even her chemistry with Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Sunny Deol & Vinod Khanna were also praised by media. In 1990s, she acted in two films by Mahesh Bhatt Awaargi & Jurm.
As per critics, she had her best performance in Awaargi. Jurm was successful commercially & critics also. During that time she acted in Ghar Ho To Aisa against Anil Kapoor, she was noted for her comic timing in that film.
Her film Ghayal opposite Sunny Deol was the highest grossing film of 1990s. In Akayla, she appeared opposite Amitabh Bachchan. With Vinod Khanna, she appeared for Satyamev Jayate, Jurm, Police Aur Mujrim & Humshakal.
Damini was her hit film with Rishi Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Paresh Rawal & Amrish Puri. She received a number of awards, including a National Film Award and a Filmfare Award nomination for Damini.
In 1991, she made her Telugu film debut with Brahmarishi Vishwamitra. She did the Telugu film Apathbandavudu with Chiranjeevi in 1992. After marriage, she had a talk show Movers & Shakers with Shekhar Suman.

In 1986, she received Lux Award as Best Actress for Swati. She got Filmfare nomination as Best Actress fir Jurm in 1991. In 1992, she nominatied as best actress for Aapadbandhavudu in Filmfare Award South.
In 1993, she received Smita Patil Memorial Award as Best Actress for Damini. She got Andhra Pradesh State Award as Best Actress for Aapadbandhavudu in 1993. In 1994, she was nominated as Best Actress for Damini in Filmfare.
