Mithun Chakraborty is an Indian actor, producer & politician. Real name of Mithun Chakraborty is Gouranga Chakraborty.
He is a veteran, powerful & established film actor. He is also known as Mithun Da. Along with actor he is also a dancer, singer, producer, writer, social worker & entrepreneur.
He works mainly in Hindi & Bengoli films. Mithun Chakraborty is also a former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament. He received two Filmfare Awards & three National Film Awards.
In 1976, he made his acting debut with an art house drama Mrigayaa. He received his first National Film Award for Best Actor for that drama. In 1982, he acted in movie Disco Dancer.
The film was commercially successful in both India & Soviet Union. Along with Disco Dancer, he is known for his performances in Surakksha, Sahhas, Wardat, Wanted, Boxer, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Pyari Behna, Avinash, Dance Dance, Prem Pratigyaa, Mujrim, Agneepath, Yugandhar, The Don, and Jallaad.
In 1991, Mithun Chakraborty received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in movie Agneepath. Later in 1992 & 1998, he won two more National Film Awards for his performances in Tahader Katha & Swami Vivekananda.
He has performed in more than 350 movies in Bengali, Hindi, Odia, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Punjabi pictures.
In 1989, he was the record holder in the Limca Book of Record for releasing 19 movies as lead actor. As of November 2021, his record is still unbroken in Bollywood.
Mithun Chakraborty owns the Monarch Group; it is known for hospitality & educational sector. He also started the production house named Paparatzy Productions.
Along with Dilip Kumar & Sunil Dutt, he set up a trust to help needy actors named Cine & TV Artist Association (CINTAA) in 1992. He was the chairperson of Film Studios Setting & Allied Mazdoor Union.

Early & Personal life:
Mithun Chakraborty was born on 16th July 1950 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Basanta Kumar Chakraborty & Shanti Rani Chakraborty were his parents.
He completed his school education from Oriental Seminary. After that Mithun completed his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Scottish Church College in Kolkata.
Later on, he did graduation from the Film & Television Institute of India, Pune. He was a Naxalite before entering films.

Mithun Chakraborty Career:
1976-1990:
In 1976, Mithun Chakraborty made his Bollywood debut with Mrinam Sen’s National Award winning movie Mrigayaa. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for that movie.
After that he played some minor roles in movies like Do Anjaane, Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan etc. Prem Vivah was his one of the important movie from 1970.
His first major successful movie was Mera Rakshak in 1978. In 1979, he rose towards stardom through a low budget movie Surakshaa. After the success of that movie received many opportunities.
In 1980s he did some films such as Humse Badhkar Kaun, Hum Se Hai Zamana and Woh Jo Hasina. He starred in more than 110 releases during that time.
In 1980, he played Bheema in a multi-starrer movie Hum Paanch. In 1980, he played double role in Taxi Chor first time. Later on he did same for more 19 movies.
Mithun Chakraborty became super star with his most recognized movie Disco Dancer. It extended his popularity to Russia also.

These films are his most commercially successful films to date. He did not get any award in 1986 & 1987 as Filmfare Awards were not announced due to technical reasons.
In 1989, Mithun Chakraborty had a record 19 films, including super hits like Ilaaka, Mujrim, Prem Pratigya and Daata, and hits like Ladaai, Guru and Bees Saal Baad.
He made his Bengali cinema debut with Nadi Theke Sagare in 1979. It was major success at box office. In 1980s, he shot three blockbusters named Kalankini Kankabati (1981), Troyee (1982) and Anyay Abichar (1985).

1990-1999:
He had more than 100 releases during 90s. Some of them are Agneepath, Shandaar, Gunahon Ka Devta, Pyar Ka Devta, Trinetra and Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana etc. Agneepath won him the Filmfare for Best Supporting Actor.
In 1992, he received National Film Award for Best Actor for critically acclaimed Bengali movie Tahader.
After that he took a break from Mumbai & shifted to Ooty with family. There he constructed The Monarch hotel.
Then he did only movies that shot in Ooty & nearby locations. He shifted hi focus to low-budget movies.
Mithun Chakraborty acted in Dalaal, Phool Aur Angaar, Ravan Raaj: A True Story and Shapath as a low-budget films.In 1995, he received Filmfare Best Villain Award & Star Screen Award Best Villain for his movie Jallad.

On 11th March 2022, Mithun Chakraborty’s latest film The Kashmir Files was released worldwide & it has been successful as a box office blockbuster. Mithun Chakraborty’s fees were around Rs 1.5 crore for his role of IAS Brahma Dutt.
Television Career:
After the success of Bengali dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance, Mithun developed the concept of Dance India Dance.
It was an Indian dance competition show on Zee TV. It became India’s largest dance based reality show. Terrence Lewis, Remo D’Souza and Geeta Kapoor were the judges of that show.
Mithun Chakraborty was the head judge of that show. He was also the Grand Master of Dance India Dance Li’l Masters.
Even he hosted the reality show Dadagiri Unlimited on Zee Bangla. For that show, he replaced Sourav Ganguly as the host.
He also hosted the Bengali version of Bigg Boss on ETV Bangla. For Star Jalsha’s Dance Dance Jounio, he appeared as co-judge with Tollywood actors Soham & Srabanti Chatterjee.
He also appeared as a co-judge with Karan Johar & Parineeti Chopra on Hunarbaaz: Desh Ki Shaan. It is premiered on Colors TV from January 2022.
Political Career:
Mithun Chakraborty joined as a Member of Parliament as he was nominated nominated for the Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament elections by the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee for her All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the West Bengal Rajya Sabha Assembly Polls.
The poles were held on 7th February 2014. On 7th March 2021, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of PM Narendra Modi & Kailash Vijayvargiya.
