Mona Singh Biography & Life Story
Mona Singh is an Indian model, dancer, television & movie actress, comedian & television presenter. She made her television debut from a very popular soap opera series – Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin during 2003 to 2006 as a lead actress.
Later on she appeared in several other movie & television roles. She is the recipient of Indian Television Academy Award twice.
Mona Singh participated in the first season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa & won in it. She also acted as Mona in Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, Preet Singh in Pyar Ko Ho Jaane Do & Paridhi in Kavach… Kaali Shaktiyon Se. She made her film debut in Rajkumar Hirani’s comedy drama 3 Idiots.
She played a side role of Mona Sahastrabuddhe in that movie. The movie is one of the highest grossing Indian films of all time.
Mona Singh was also praised for her role of Anaya Sharma in Kahne Ko Humsafar Hain & Poorva Gupta in Yeh Meri Family in 2018. She has also hosted some television shows like Comedy Nights Live & Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.
During year 2012, Mona became one of the highest paid actress. For Kya Hua Tera Vada, she received one lakh rupees/episode.
Early & personal life:
Mona Singh was born on 8th October 1981 in Chandigarh, India. She was born in a Shikh family. Her father Jasbir Singh is a retired colonel in the Indian an army & her mother Rani Singh is homemaker.
She has an elder sister named Sona Singh. She completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. She completed her graduation from St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune, Maharashtra, India.

On 27th December 2019, she married Shayam Rajagoplaln. They got married in a traditional Shikh ceremony. He is an investment banker & financial adviser from Chennai city.

Television Career:
Mona Singh debuted into Hindi television with Sony Entertainment Television’s super hit soap opera Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin during 2003 to 2006.
In that iconic serial she gained popularity through her work as the sincere & intelligent Jasmeet ‘Jassi’ Walia for three years.
Mona Singh became popular for that soap opera. For that she won many accolades at award functions like Apsara Awards, Indian Television Awards & Indian Television Academy Awards.
She participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 1 in 2006 & emerged as the winner. In 2007, she hosted Femina Miss India & Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 2. Later in 2008, she participated & win in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena.

During 2008-2009, she teamed up with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms for the first of four consecutive fiction show Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi. It was collaborations in NDTV Imagine. She was casted as Raunaq Makhija for that.
After that she shifted her focus mostly on hosting & non-fiction shows. In 2009, she hosted Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.
In 2010, she hosted Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 4, Meethi Choori No 1 & Shaadi 3 Crore Ki. In 2011, she hosted Star Ya Rockstar & in 2012, she hosted CID Veerta Awards.
In 2012, again she returned to fiction show for Sony Entertainment Televisions’s Kya Hua Tera Vaada. It was produce by Ekta Kapoor. She acted as Mona, a wife whose husband divorced her due to an extramarital affair with his former girlfriend.
The show took a break after the show ended in 2013. After two years she came back to television with Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do in October 2015. Again her 3rd show to be produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Mona Singh acted as Preet Singh. A woman who lost her parents. In January 2016, within three months it went off air due to low TRP.

She featured in Ekta Kapoor’s supernatural production Kavach… Kali Shaktiyon Se in 2016. She acted as Paridhi, a married woman attempting to protect her husband from his former lover who has turned into a spirit post death.
Mona Singh also hosted Comedy Nights Bachao. She hosted the &TV’s show Mauka-E-Vardaat in September 2021.
Web series:
She ventured into web world in 2018, as Ananya in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain. Same year she starred in The Viral Fever & Netflix series Yeh Meri Family.
She also appeared in ZEE5 & ALT Balaji series Mission Over Mars. On ZEE5 she appeared in Black Windows also.
Film career:
In 2009, she made her film debut as a supporting but important character of Mona Sahastrabuddhe in Rajkhimar Hirani’s Hindi satirical comedy movie 3 Idiot.
It was one of the highest grossing Indian films with a global accumulation of about ₹4 billion (US$52 million). Later she acted in Utt Pataang, Zed Plus & Amavas. In her another movie Lal Singh Chaddha, she enacts another supporting character.
Awards:
Mona Singh won many popular television awards during her career. For Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, she won multiple awards.

Controversy:
In 2013, she landed into controversy with an MMS on internet. She filed a complaint in cyber police department.
Later it was cleared that the video was morphed. It was to defame her before few days of her movie release.
