Interview with Mudita Jaipuria, Women Entrepreneur & Founder of Warehouse by Mudita
Ms Mudita Jaipuria was fascinated by luxury fashion since her childhood. Sharing a strong affinity towards the retail and fashion industry and surrounded by all things luxe Mudita gained an insight into the rarefied world of Luxury at a very young age.
Imbued with the desire for perfection and an innate elegance Mudita directed her zeal and passion into launching Warehouse by Mudita in the year 2014, a one-of-a-kind luxury multi-designer outlet that helps make Luxury fashion accessible to a larger audience.
Her experience of working in house with some of the top luxury designers in the country such as Rohit Gandhi, Rahul Khanna, Namrata Joshipuria, to name a few, gave Mudita an insight into the end-to-end supply chain.
She also gained invaluable experience in creating logistics solutions while working with the global conglomerate Li & Fung.
Over the years Mudita has been able to create an enviable ecosystem of Luxury sales and has been able to cultivate loyal patrons of luxury fashion buyers.
Apart from the big metropolises of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai these hi-value buyers and spenders are spread across various cities of India including tier 2 and 3 cities like Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Dehradun, Udaipur and Amritsar too.
Mudita qualified with an honours degree in Business Administration Fashion from the much coveted Pearl Academy of Fashion and set out to travel the globe to experience foreign cultures and countries.
Her extensive travels all over the world gave her a perspective on the absence of a luxury fashion business model that was much prevalent overseas.
She perceived this vacuum and with her business acumen she conceived and actualised Warehouse by Mudita, a one-of-a-kind luxury multi-designer outlet that stocks a huge variety of designs from avant garde fashion designers of India at enviable price points making it accessible to aspiring fashionistas across the country.
She partnered with some of India’s most luxurious designers to bring quality merchandise to customers at comparatively reasonable price points thus, helping designers to reach a larger audience through her extensive sales network.
Contemplating the need of the hour during the pandemic, Mudita further expanded horizons for Warehouse by pivoting to the online space and set up website in 2020.
With a firm vision of global domination for her brand and a desire to prove and empower herself, Mudita also went ahead and founded Get Powered by Warehouse (GPW).
GPW is based on the concept wherein it takes the complete turnkey responsibility to amplify the needs of the clients.
This model ensures a long-term investment in marketing awareness and not a short-term boost in sales and engagement.
With an extensive customer base Pan-India, GPW not only ensures an effective outreach to the brand’s target market, consisting of HNIs and UHNIs thus confirming effective sales but, also engages with them by the curation of exclusive offline previews and online content creation.
With an unwavering dedication towards her work, Mudita however, feels that an equilibrium needs to be attained with respect to one’s personal and professional life and therefore, likes to unwind with her close friends.
A firm believer of learning on-the-job, she touts Warehouse as one of the biggest learning experiences in her life. Identifying herself as a doer, Mudita follows the sensibility of a Karma Yogi and trusts that giving one’s best would ensure success.
Always curious to explore the world, Mudita is an avid traveller, with Europe, Maldives, Bora Bora and Bali being some of her top travel destinations.
Tell us a little about yourself
Mudita Jaipuria: I hold an honors degree in Business Administration Fashion from the prestigious Pearl Academy of Fashion.
Throughout my extensive travels around the world, I gained a unique perspective on the absence of an excessive inventory liquidating concept in India, a business model that was widely prevalent overseas. Recognizing this gap,
I leveraged my business acumen and conceived Warehouse by Mudita, a remarkable luxury multi-designer outlet that specializes in the liquidation of excessive inventory. It’s truly one-of-a-kind in the industry.
At Warehouse, we have partnered with some of India’s most luxurious designers to bring their exquisite creations to fashion enthusiasts at discounted prices.
Our goal is not only to provide a platform for these designers to liquidate their excess inventory but also to offer customers the opportunity to indulge in high-end fashion without breaking the bank.
On a more personal note, I come from a patriarchal Marwari family, and I married into another prominent Marwari family.
My husband is the proud owner of one of the most reputable travel companies in the country. Together, we share a passion for entrepreneurship and a commitment to excellence in our respective fields.
I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences and opportunities that have shaped my journey so far. It’s my belief that through Warehouse by Mudita, we can revolutionize the Indian fashion industry and promote a more sustainable and efficient approach to inventory management.
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind founding Warehouse and how it aims to make luxury fashion accessible to a larger audience?
Mudita Jaipuria: Since my childhood, I have been captivated by the allure of luxury fashion. Growing up surrounded by all things luxe, I gained a deep understanding of the rarified world of high-end fashion at a very young age. This exposure ignited a passion within me for perfection and innate elegance.
From the early 2000’s, while traveling across the various Shopping Villages of Europe, I realized the potential of introducing the concept of liquidating excess inventory to the luxury retail scenario in India, Warehouse was born.
Driven by this desire and fueled by my unwavering zeal, I channeled my passion into the launch of Warehouse by Mudita in 2015.
It was a momentous step, as I introduced a one-of-a-kind luxury multi-designer outlet that played a pivotal role in the liquidation of excessive inventory.
Warehouse, with its unique business model, initially focused on bringing top-quality merchandise to customers at comparatively lower prices.
This not only provided fashion enthusiasts with access to luxurious pieces but also assisted designers in effectively liquidating their surplus stock.
With Warehouse, I sought to disrupt the traditional norms of the fashion industry, creating a space where excess inventory could find new homes and customers could indulge in the finest creations of renowned designers.
It was my way of merging my passion for luxury fashion with my vision for a more efficient approach to inventory management.
The journey has been incredibly fulfilling, as Warehouse has garnered recognition and appreciation for its innovative approach.
Through my own terms and with the support of an amazing team, I continue to drive Warehouse forward, striving to revolutionize the way the industry views excessive inventory.
