By Arijit Roy: Kunwardeep Singh Khanna, an alumnus of Apeejay School, Kharghar, is one of the most task-oriented people you will ever meet.
He is a top professional and currently works at Trinity Life Sciences as a Senior Manager. In a wide-ranging interview, Kunwardeep explains in detail about a typical working day at the helm and the demands and pressures of his work profile. Read edited excerpts of the interview:
You’re a Senior Manager at a consultancy firm. Does that mean you are busy all the time?
My typical day involves a lot of collaboration with colleagues, clients, and senior partners. Each day starts with team meetings to discuss the progress across various projects and to plan my assignments.
I then work closely with the team to develop solutions to the challenges identified by our clients, which involves researching and analysing data and building detailed presentations.
Client meetings occur throughout the day to discuss potential solutions. At the end of the day, I review progress and set targets for the next day.
That is quite a lot of work! What is your inspiration to join this field?
The inspiration to join a consulting firm comes from a desire to help organisations make better decisions and achieve greater success.
Consulting firms provide access to a wealth of valuable resources and expertise, allowing consultants to provide actionable insights and advice to their clients.
Consulting also offers a unique opportunity to work with a variety of problem statements and people, allowing for the acquisition of skills and knowledge that can be applied in other contexts. A career in consulting offers the potential for professional growth and development.
How did your school help you in your journey?
Apeejay Kharghar played a major role in shaping my identity and character. It provided me with a stimulating, educational environment that enabled me to learn and grow.
Through a variety of extracurricular activities, I was able to explore and develop my interests. The teachers were always supportive and provided guidance in making important decisions.
Furthermore, the strong sense of community I felt at Apeejay Kharghar fostered a secure environment, allowing me to form meaningful relationships with my peers.
One life lesson to all students?
Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way, whether it be academic or extracurricular. Make the most of your time in school by challenging yourself, engaging with your classmates and getting involved in activities that interest you.
Additionally, find mentors and ask for help whenever required. These experiences will help you become a well-rounded individual and will also prepare you for the future. Lastly, remember to enjoy your time in school and make lasting memories.
Future goals?
I am committed to expanding my professional accomplishments by taking on new challenges, refining my current skills, and staying up-to-date with the most recent advancements in my industry.
Despite the numerous hours that are sometimes required, I strive to maintain a healthy balance by devoting time to physical activity and to my family and friends.
Finally, one change you would like to see in your work industry?
I would like to see increased collaboration between various firms, allowing them to combine their resources, knowledge, and expertise in order to address larger, more complex issues. This in turn will help all to deliver sustainable solutions.
