Pratik Chatterjee, who is currently working with ICICI Bank, shares how his teachers have played a crucial role in his professional journey
Written by Arijit Roy: Apeejay School, Nerul alumnus Pratik Chatterjee leads an eventful life. Analyst at ICICI Bank, Pratik handles the work of the United Kingdom geographical zone and leads his team through many important assignments.
In a quick chat, he gives us a glimpse of what a day at the office looks like and how he found his calling while he was at the Apeejay School in Navi Mumbai.
What does a regular day at work look like?
I work for the UK geographical zone. Hence, my work timeline is suited according to their timeline. My day at the office starts in the afternoon. I prepare a to-do list to begin with, then get on a call with the team and discuss the targets of the day.
Post which, I go through the daily work, get in touch with various stakeholders, get the relevant data, then again get on a group call where the team highlights the day’s progress and other issues. It is always a very eventful day!
Tell us about your days at Apeejay School, Nerul.
The school has a special place in my heart. I have so many special memories that it would be tough to highlight any one in particular. However, my favourite memories were from the games period when we used to do a lot of activities.
Especially, when we got a substitution period in the absence of a teacher, that was an additional opportunity to play games.
What role did the teachers play in your life?
They have helped me immensely in deciding my career and journey. I would like to thank Ms Ritu Kapoor ma’am the most; she has been a great mentor to me. She never pressured any student with career choices rather she always told us to listen to our heart and then make a decision.
Were you active in extracurriculars?
The school used to organsie a lot of inter-house competitions and I was an avid participant in sports. But it was in the annual days that I would really get to show my talent. You see, I was an excellent dancer and was always cultivating my love for dance in school. I worked a lot on my passion.
Finally, any advice you would like to give to a current student?
As Ritu ma’am always told me: listen to your heart, trust yourself, work hard and everything will come into place. This indeed holds true!
